I think I see something that might contribute to your bump steer issue. The tie rods come out of the rack and point backward. On a factory rack & pinion vehicle. The tie rods are usually, if not always, straight.

Sweet Chevelle there. I had a '67 Malibu when I was in high School. It wasn't a SS, just a 283 cid, 2 barrel, with Power-Glide trans. Funny in that when out cruising, guys with hot rods wanted to race because mine had a stance & look that was just Fast. Lights would turn green & they would be burning tires while I simply accelerated. Cops would chase the tire burning guys & ignore me. Man, we had a lot of fun in that car. It was a good tail catcher too!

@@unclesquirrel6951 Yes it was .I lost Dad on Feb. 15,2019. And my Mom passed away on May 28 ,2021. Dad and I watched football together starting way back when I was in high school in the 70's. Since he's been gone I have not watched any at all. In my Junior year in high school. There's a picture of the crowd at one of our football games. It was a home game for us. And everybody and I mean everybody is looking to the north end of the field except for two people My Mom and my Dad are looking right at the camera. And the picture takes up the whole page. I miss them more everyday. And for those out there that still have both or just one of your parents . Tell them you Love them every chance you get. Cause one day you won't be able to.

I feel the same way about football . I go ride my Harley. Nice truck Lucky . I had a 53 dodge truck I bought. Had real problems with the rack. Wasn’t centered. And white knuckle driving was an understatement .

Do you think the rack may be to high up in the frame? Causing the tie rods to come down at a steep angle?

The rack is too far forward. Tie rods should be inline with the rack. In the video it appears they are reaching rearward to meet the spindles. That's a recipe for bumpsteer

Lucky check out Motion Race Works E85 sensor holder. It has a bypass built in it so 85 flows through the sensor and bypasses around the sensor and through the holder as not to restrict fuel. Maybe not even have to change to 8an.

I bought the POL rack 2 years ago and had major fitment issues on a 71 C10. Fought it for a while, then pulled it off and bought all new OEM components. Very disappointed in POL's POS rack. However JC Genty did his best to help, but there was no way to make it work right.

Hate to say it- but you're always going to have bump steer with those inner tie rod ends so much higher than your control arm pivots. The rack has to drop close to inline with the control arm pivots.

Lucky, your bump steer problem is because the centerline between the upper and lower ball joints intersect your wheel near the inside rim instead of in the center of the rim. The offset is causing a moment which produces bump steer. Change your rims with ones that have more positve offset and your problem will be resolved.

Fond memories of my 68 short bed, 1/4" steel flat bed with exhaust stacks. Interesting amount of goodies. Have you seen the device on motor homes that has a powered steering stabilizer to help hold straight when the road is crowned. Less fatigue trying to stay in your lane. If i remember correctly it has a control you mount to the dash after market.

I'm wondering, have you actually measured bump steer? I learned a ton about this when I built my Factory Five Cobra and I did measure mine and made some easy changes to completely eliminate it (measured). I can see you've got the steering joints on top of the knuckle, which from the angles I can see is right. Moving the rack down might help you. Again, measure first, then make changes. For me, I went from below the knuckle steering ball to above and then used some adjustable aluminum bushings to mount the rack to the frame in order to lower it. The handling got way better. If this is all old knowledge to you, ignore me.

Your bump steer is caused by excessive wheel offset. If you draw a imaginary line from upper to lower ball joint then continue that line down to the contact point on the road it should land in the center of the tire, not on the edge as it is now

Houses their rack and raises up your control arms into the body of the truck an extra 2 inches. Would be a great upgrade if that rack isn’t gonna continue working for you. Wish I could afford one for my 67! PLUS nobody on KZbin has got one yet and done a proper review of it. I bet if you reached out to your buddies at QA1 they would love to give you one at a great deal to showcase to your audience ;)

Your bumpsteer is due to the rack being too long which makes the tie rods too short....doesn't matter what 'adjustments you make, the tie rods have to be the same length as the lower control arm so they match the arc of it thus eliminating the bumpsteer. This is not brain surgery.

I've been installing a POL 4 LINK Kit on my 69 Camaro And it's junk ! I had to send one bracket back to get fixed because it was welded completely wrong and the hardware kit is full of bolts that are incorrect
