I always are bee concerned. My neighbors have 5 hives. When the come to our house and sit on our railing looking at us ,i give give them a plate of water. This summer i was pulling a few tufts of grass out of my large planter. There are small ground bees nesting in! I got stung a dozen times. A week later and much benedryl I told Hubby to blow them out with fireworks. He didn’t. But we can’t get rid of them. Soap hot water didn’t work a can of wasp spray didn’t work! Not sure what to use. I would normally burn out,but the planter is plastic.

Keep it simple. Use T&E Time and Expense estimating method.
@Farmermase9 ай бұрын
@@628DirtRooster that’s what I try to do. I end up around $100 an hour. Normal small cut out on the ground would be $300 and then when I do concrete block cut outs then that’s around $500-$600 with a repair. If it’s off the ground and a cut out then $700-$800+ the lift. I ask all the experienced keepers in Florida what their pricing is and they say I’m normally right around them or cheaper on some jobs. I just like to make sure I’m charging the customers fairly while getting paid for the hard work.

Anybody know what a trap out is? I'm assuming it's something that prevents them from getting to the nest. Will honey getting sucked into the bee Vac get separated from the bee's? Glad it everything worked out guys. Peace
@Chard-Bees9 ай бұрын
A trap out is setting up a hive / box near where the bees are checking to establish a colony. This is so they will hopefully start housekeeping in a box instead of building in an unwanted location. This can also be used with an established colony in an in accessible space by setting up a custom bee escape (one way “valve” for bees, they can leave but not return) and then leaving bees need a home and there is a hive like above for them to live in.

I wonder if you could give me some direction. My Minnesota hive is not creating any honey. I got three frames of bees with some honey and brood from a failing apiary, but no queen. They made their own queen, which is sending out eggs like a machine gun. Plenty of brood but little honey. Plus, they coat the original three frames but seem to ignore the other previously used frames, for the most part. I am using two brood boxes. Should I install a queen excluder? Would that help? Other ideas?

No queen excluder. Surplus of bees make surplus honey but only if there are nectar producing plants to support that. Feed if you need to.
