Business is business, Randy. What ever works for you, but I can for sure empathize with that one customer every season that makes you want to quit all together. Been there, done that. It is true in every business, not just bees. I was a remodeling contractor and some folks cannot communicate and just won't listen at all. No pleasing them.. Don't worry, be happy!

For new or non-beekeepers, comb in brand new colonies is VERY fragile. Too weak to support itself, so you can't rubber band it into frames as you would normally do with older comb. Ah well. But that was a huge colony, for only swarming a few weeks ago.
@joeyl.rowland4153

Correction you can it is very delicate and very time consuming to frame it and support it without collapsing or breaking it. Think very thin bone China. Breaks if you look at it wrong. Normally not worth the time necessary to save it. But you can I have but only in desperation.
@tdvanwinkle
@tdvanwinkle 2 ай бұрын
Now that honeybees are more prolific than before colony collapse, I pick and choose jobs and seldom CUT any bees out of homes. People expect you to cut on trees that are leaning towards their neighbors' homes, go inside brick homes and cut bees out from the inside, climb up in small attics, for what bees you can get out. Then have the gall to sue for home repairs after signing a waiver knowing your insurance will likely settle but costing lots of time. I am the only one left in my area, which is quickly urbanizing, doing bee removal. I am very choosey who I help and don't get my old self into situations where I am going to suffer from pain for days or weeks. You are so correct about queen sales. Much easier to do splits into 2 frame nucs and produce queens and wax. I will be selling almost all of my vertical Langstroth's in 2025 because the lifting is becoming too much. 20 long Langs and a bunch of nucs will be plenty for me. Selling hives of bees and queens is a much better option than packages and nucs. Watching your and your friends gave me the courage and knowledge to do removals. I have construction background but cutting out aggressive bees was a new experience. Thank you for everything. Pick and choose your battles. You only have two of many things and only one back. No amount of money is worth a lifetime of pain.

Mane.... That was a purdy colony! We'd do the same with work.... good thinking on condensing the work load while yet making a profit in other avenue's. We had a customer that had an elevator in their home that Hannah and I could barely fit in. One day I talked her into riding on it. While heading north on it, I hit the emergency stop between floors (like Gibbs on NCIS) She wasn't happy after it taking the things 30 minutes to start again! 😁 Enjoy it, y'all have a blessed one.
@628DirtRooster
@628DirtRooster 9 ай бұрын
Oh boy, I would have ripped that elevator apart if I was stuck in there. I was never claustrophobic until I had an MRI in a machine that was too narrow for my shoulders. I was wadded up in there with my arms locked across my chest for a half hour and then the little motorized bed that slides you up in there didn't want to pull me out when it was time. A few years after that, Elizabeth and I got in an elevator at Gulf Shores and about ten strangers piled in with us. The doors closed and the thing locked up for about four or five minutes, I believe it was because we exceeded the weight limit. The doors wouldn't open and no one was responding on the emergency call button. This was in the heat of summer and it was in a parking garage so it was getting hot in there fast. All I could think was a dozen people are about to cook in this cable operated hot box. I almost lost it in there. If it hadn't opened I was about to do damage. Elizabeth got snippy because I was "upsetting" the other people. I was like, It's their fault we're stuck and I ain't going out like this.

I wish I agreed. I'm nitpicking but it needs a more interesting sky and I probably should have walked in anther ten feet. LOL I see coastal scenes in businesses down here a lot so I'm comparing to them.

@@628DirtRooster we only see flaws in our own work! And usually it's only us that can tell. I live on the Isle of Portland with gorgeous views over Chesil Beach, but that is shingles not grassy dunes. Both pretty in their own way
