Looking after your caravan windows

Thanks martin for your advice been told that a caravan fridge is the first thing put inside a caravan & everything else is fitted around it as it's the widest appliance you Wii encounter in a caravan.

Yes I’ve seen them put a caravan together, everything inside built on the floor first then walls and roof on last. Make sense then they have more room to work in.

I did a Training with Autoglym when I started car valeting 15 years ago and have never used any other product.It is expensive but it does the job easily with not much effort so it's worth it

Hey Martin, great video, I like keeping the windows nice and clean too and agree that fast glass is great. I use the super resin polish on them too which removes very light scratches and brings them up lovely. Need to get the wipes though, very handy. Very funny outtake 🤣🤣👍🏻

Hi there Martin thanks for your reply to my query about window catches.do you think a caravan inside wall would be ok to mount a television mounting bracket to it the t.v we want to put onto it is a 19" flat screen t.v doesn't weigh that much we will be putting it on an inside wall in the van it is a small bikt &t.v can only tilt about 4degrees it's not an arm bkt it sits flush to the wall &t.v tilts.i don't know if t.v brackets are ever used in caravans never seen one.many thanks again for your help&advice

Hi Alan, you can fit TV brackets on the internal walls of a van, I would check out specific ones for caravans. The walls are hollow and thin, when I fitted my bracket I put a plate on the back of the wall to spread the load out. If you just put bolts or screws in it will just pull them through the thin wall structure. Hope that helps, Cheers Martin

Hi Martin, good video again, congratulations on your 3K subscribers 👍, looks a good product but be careful in recommending a cleaning product, If you remember a few months ago I did a video on my warranty issues with Domestic windows which had cracks appearing on the glazing behind latches where fitted to window pane, the warranty was rejected by Domestic & Chausson as they said windows had been cleaned or come into contact with harsh chemical, as you I had only cleaned the windows internally with warm soapy water, which I tried to explain through dealer to Domestic & Chausson numerous times but still there excuse came back the same, this was there last reply - we have already seen people using a cleaning product sold to clean motorhomes & caravans windows but when you look at the list of ingredients some of them are forbidden to clean the methacrylate windows ?. So that's how they got away with the claim. After a long battle (a long story) dealer has said they will replace them, so now awaiting for the delivery of 4 new glazings.

Please could you tell me are window catches easy to replace inside the caravan?I have one missing in my caravan.many thanks for your advice

Hi Alan, they are quite easy to do. You either have screws on the inside of you catch, some have screws on the outside, you may have to remove the plastic cover on the outside catch. If it’s a modern van when you move the catch to the open position you will see a small hole, push something in that hole and the cover will slide up to reveal the screws for the catch. I just use silicone spray now, WD-40 do one. Spray on to cloth and wipe on. Cheers

Hi Martin could you tell me is it easy to remove my fridge out of my caravan due to it not working.Seen video clip on KZbin & he made it look easy?but on the other hand I know a caravan engineer &he said that fridges can be difficult to attempt yourself as caravan fridges have to be removed through the middle wide window at the front of the caravan.he said some caravan fridges are held in place with adhesive which can make them difficult to remove.Thanks for your help&advice.

Hi Alan, I have never taken the fridge out so not much help I’m afraid. I would imagine disconnect the gas and unplug and take any retaining screws out. Just looked at ours and it won’t go through the door to would take 2 people to get it through the front window. If you need a fridge KTG caravans and campers in Stoke have loads. Hi Martin I have noticed that on one of my caravan windows the rim on the inside not the rubber seal.as started to come away from the corner can this be put right by warning with an hair dryer then putting it back into the corner.thanks for your advice once again.

Hi Alan, I’m not sure it’s that flexible but you could give it a go. They do tend to come away on the corners due to the heating and cooling. I think you can get spare trim but but not sure where from. Will have a think and get back to you, cheers Martin
