That’s a nice little telescope!! Looking forward your tests Joe!

Joe congrats on acquiring a fine scope. Sorry to hear about the seller's brother, but it is good that you are dedicating some time for him out of respect.

Never saw one in real life, but even through video it looks like a fine piece of art.

@@janomacko5764 I’ve seen a couple in the used market, but I never pulled a trigger Now that I have it, let’s start testing it and see how good it is

This night I had the opportunity to see the Skywatcher Evostar 90/900 mm f10 side by side against my Svbony 102 ED and Opticon 70/700 mm achromat. The Svbony 102 ED was superior in every way to the SW 90/900 mm achromat, higher brightness, sharpness, more detailed and clearly less chromatic aberration. The 70/700 mm achromat also had a lot less chromatic aberration than the SW 90/900 and was I guess also a little sharper but the brightness was significantly lower. Although many reviewers were very impressed by the Skywatcher 90/900 mm achromat, the example I saw was I think nothing but a typical 90 mm f10 achromat, nothing special in terms of optical performance. But it’s nice that it has a metal focuser and metal tube.
@JoeJaguarАй бұрын
@@3dfxvoodoocards6 I am not surprised that the svbony 102ed came out on top I also understand why the 90 mm might have more chromatic aberration than the smaller 70 mm as the image blur on the 90 would be more than the smaller one Thanks for telling me your testing and how it came out so I was interesting to see other people’s experiences

I use my 90mm f10 for white light solar imaging (with a herschel wedge). Like it a lot.

@ yeah that does sound like fun. Cheers.

The Takahashi is probably intended primarily for astrophotography.
@JoeJaguarАй бұрын
@@sirius1559 yeah you’re right it wouldn’t make a great Astro photography telescope, but probably more for the deep sky stuff as I’m thinking if somebody did Astro photography for the planets or the sun and moon they’re still might be some chromatic aberration, as well as some other aberrations too even being a fluorite That’s why I want to do a few tests and compare it to a couple different telescopes to see for myself Thanks for your comment

Interesting refractor. With it’s high quality glass and f5.6 ratio I guess it should have the color correction of a f12 achromat at least.
@JoeJaguarАй бұрын
@@3dfxvoodoocards6 I’ve read them the forum somebody said maybe F8 but I had a feeling they were just guessing and never owned one so I would like to see on the next video. I’m gonna compare it to the 102F5 acro to see what’s the difference in colour correction Plus, I’ve read maybe three or four times people asked why can’t they make a short tube with ED glass? Then I’m gonna borrow a 90 mm F10 from someone that I know that has one and then that way we can compare it how good detect Sky 90 is it F8 maybe F10 or are you correct like F12?
@3dfxvoodoocards6Ай бұрын
@JoeJaguar I would guess it has to be at least at the level of a f12 achtomat. The comparison with the 90/900 achromat will be very interesting :)

Have you had any collimation issues with it? I know Ed Ting mentioned that scope having issues.
