I really respect the covers and colorspreads Oda makes. Usually we don't get to have slow moments where the Strawhats are just chilling out or hanging around like friends. But through those unique pictures we see them interacting in different environments that could've been happening just offscreen in between arcs. It really adds to the sense of camaraderie between the crew

Katsu Imagitian you’re right. Honestly, I miss those interactions on the ship that we used to see more of pre-timeskip and a little bit at the beginning of post-timeskip. I enjoy those moments so much, sometimes more than the events that unfold on the islands they visit

Heres the thing tho, the community is so focused on hype stuff right now, like when a character is talking to another about the plan in wano, or even the Zoro part in chapter 930, people are like "oh I don't care about that lets go to the hype stuff", now people are wanting more interaction between the crew, but If Oda does that they are like "oh do useless the story is not moving" so annoying man...

I've always thought of the colour spreads as Oda's way of giving us the cannon moments of the crew hanging out on a daily basis. It's not like each island the straw hats visit takes a day to get there. Especially with the openings, which animate them slightly. (Hands up is an example).

The Alabasta cover with Vivi wearing the X shirt isn't to signify Chopper remember that's the mark they gave themselves because of Bon Clay so they could tell each other apart & at the end of the arc we see the scene where the strawhats have their backs turned to Vivi but they raise their arm & show the X ( Nakama ) symbol

When comparing the first volume covers of several series, One Piece was always my favorite. Why? When you look at other popular series like Bleach, HunterxHunter, or Naruto, it's just the main character. And yeah, the Naruto cover has a lot going on, but it's still only Naruto. One Piece on the other hand looked like a group of friends having a good time traveling. And that just seems more interesting and meaningful.

each volume is roughly around 208 pages so in total just in the 91 volumes so far there'd be 18928 pages

@@MrColllie Well that would be awesome however we can reduce pages buy finding a clever way to combine pages. For instance we can make the book taller and wider. Make 4 chapters into one page with a 2x2. Or maybe 3x3. Reduce page count. Increase page size?

Volume 89 is by far the best cover of the series. Oda’s covers tend to be a compilation of moments in the story or just sort of a general overview of what happens with the major characters, but this is the only volume as far as I know that focuses on just one single moment. It’s not cluttered, it’s not too simplistic and you can just feel the raw emotion and power coming from Luffy and Katakuri’s faces.

Sometimes just coming out of the shower, taking a seat in the comfort of your home with a warm mug of hot chocolate and watching a calm, light-minded Tekking video once in a while may not be so bad. With all the recent action in One Piece, sometimes I forget to just look back and appreciate this series as a whole. So thank you, Tekking. This brought back so many nostalgic memories of One Piece and the impact it had on my childhood.

menno graafmans that would be a big book over 900 chapters SO FAR about 15-20 pages a chapter that thing would probably be heavy Edit: just did some quick math Assuming the average is 20 pages that's over 18,000 pages Even being conservative and saying the average is 15 pages that's still over 13,000 pages And the series isn't even over yet

Regarding the "little over 100 volumes", I believe there was a different translation (or a correction) that said "it won't end at 100 volumes", so if this one is correct then Oda didn't even hint at the ending.

The Lost Keys story reminded me of that one time my neighbor broke into my house to wake me up and warn me my balcony was on fire. Not even kidding about that, I owe the man my life. By the time I had pants on the firefighters were on site rushing up the floors to help us contain it. We lived on the 4th floor and apparently the balcony had been burning for hours before anyone was wise to the situation. And as it turns out, the source of the fire had been a joint of marijuana left there by one of my roommate's friends (This was before marijuana became legal in Quebec.) So on top of firefighters looking down on us, the owner of the building screaming his heart out in rage and the insurance companies trying to evade their duties and put the blame on us for gross negligence or whatever, we had the cops roasting us for a confession mere minutes after the fire had been contained, right next to the burned balcony. Closest I ever got to a nervous break down in time of crisis, safe for that one time I almost committed suicide, but that's a story for another time. (Don't worry, I got better.) A few weeks of crushing anxiety later, we managed to get the insurance to pay up for the damages and thankfully had no legal repercussions. Pheww! 😂 Moral of the story, choose your roommates wisely and double check behind any smoker before you go to bed.

One piece theory: At 12:52 it's not choppers emblem on vivi's shirt it's an X over her boobs as in X marks the spot, therefore boobs are the one piece, therefore boobs are what all the pirates are fighting for, oda is a genius

I did for a short period a manga course. I remember, when my teacher said to me that normally, cover pages are usually and ideally more clean, without many characters and details, in order to resume the main information on what the volume is about. But, I've always loved Oda's cover pages! The colorizations are beautiful! It's hard to pick, but my favorites are: 79, 62, 45, 21, 22 and 03 (in this order).

Volume 44 has a border is that blue line beneath that spiral background, the number blocks the rest of the border. In volume 23 The shirt that Vivi is wearing could be referencing that X that they had in they arms.

You can't even begin to understand how huge One Piece is in Japan until you visit. 3 floors in the Tokyo Tower are dedicated to one piece. There's merchandise and branding everywhere, people reading volumes on the train it's amazing.

My top 4 favourite One Piece manga volume covers are 53, 59, 66, and 89. I love the colour in 53's cover, its just fantastic, 59 is awesome because we see Luffy and Ace in a kind of fighting stance and Whitebeard and Shanks and Jinbei and Blackbeard overtop works really well I think, 66 is awesome just for Luffy and Jinbei chillin' back to back, and 89, well c'mon its Luffy vs Katakuri, it's pure greatness
