When I was in elementary school there was this kid in the neighborhood who had an R4 for his DS and all us other kids freaked out over the fact bro had the entire DS library at the time on one cartridge and it ended up getting stolen by one of us, then stolen from that person by another thief, before being returned to the original kid… and then stolen again

grew up with an r4 and an acekard 2, seeing such a simple video took me back to when i was just a mindless kid in the mid 2000s who didn't know there were unlockable characters in mkds, these cards honestly helped me discover some of the series i hold so much love for today and i honestly miss them sm, great video :D

Here in Brazil the DS (more specifically the DS Lite) was much more common than the DSi, even in 2013 you still found people with the DS Lite, so the R4s were very useful and had a very long life here. I had a DS Lite and jumped straight to the 3DS XL, I remember being pretty sad when I realized that my 3DS didn't even recognize my R4 cartdrige, I was hoping I could at least play my DS games on it.

ah i grew up with an r4 card !! the classic black one , shockingly i recall getting it from big w of all places ??how tf did it end up in a retailer . but yeah, i didn’t know how to install other games on it since i was so young, but it was where i played my first pokemon game (pokemon diamond), a variety of pokemon spin-offs, mario party and a bucketload of shovel ware haha. i used to use the walk through walls cheat in diamond, n found special event areas or even jus’ ,... wandered aimlessly through the void for whatever reason . good times!! it was my first exposure to gaming aside from nintendogs (i was like six) and even if it was illegal, i had some damn good memories with it :-]

I remember that I had a R4 card and didn't know you could cheat on it, so one day my friend showed me how to do it and the floodgates were open. A few years after that, another friend came over with his DS and he had a copy of DSTT with way better cheatcodes on it than my crummy R4 card. I asked my parents and a few weeks passed and I got mine in the mail with way better cheatcodes. Now I only have my R4 card and need to look up how to get Pokemon Diamond working on it so I can ultimately play PKMN randomizers on it.

I like R4. Here in Sweden it is legal so long as you own the original game. The problem with R4 is that in some games the save file stops working after a while. But one of the best things with it is if you own Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. With R4 you can change the clock in this games after you have replaced the battery. Because, if you don’t change the clock all time events stop working like berries trees.

In my neighborhood there was ah R4 dealer selling copies when nintendo ds was at its peak, im talking the whole school bus and it passed around, the library in the morning was full of pokemon fights, there was this spot were we had ah gamecube setup for smash bros in the morning the room bulit up as the school year went it was 6-15 people in the room and 5 ppl had r4s, I was ah bus rider at the time and got jealous because i get there late, I had to decide if i wanted breakfast or sit in the room for 25-35 minutes

I have an Ace3DS card, it's pretty handy. I can enjoy the games I never got to play while the DS was in manufacturing, the way they were meant to be played.
