Looking back at the 1983 Cabbage Patch Kid Christmas craze

I was 11, I remember watching this on TV as a kid and not understanding the hype. We couldn't afford one for my sister. That summer they had a contest in the kids section of a local Wednesday paper. I entered the contest and forgot about it. Months later around Christmas I got a package, it was a cabbage patch kid and gave it to her for Christmas in 84. She was so happy.
