Really like that you decided to talk about looking beyond the obvious after noticing in was a common theme in your comments. This was so very enjoyable. The practical teaching and extraordinary fall images are an inspiration for the weeks ahead. And as a musician, I am once again impressed by the choices of music which bind your films together but never intrude - inviting us to linger and notice even more of the detail within. There are many wonderful KZbin videos released each week, but if I only have time for one, it will most definitely be yours. Thanks again for all the care you put into this!
@SimonBoothPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for noticing the Music again Charlene and for such a generous remark. Just like many stage shows, including opera of course, music is such an integral part of the visuals. Get this wrong and the whole thing can come crashing down. The music I use is always chosen afterwards to help get the best out the type of image once I have taken and processed it. Many years ago I used to do talks to societies and camera clubs and I had two slide projectors on the go, with a home made slider between the two lenses so I could fade slides in and out to the music. I loved the way it made me and the audience feel then and I still do today.

Another excellent film. You're really teaching me to LOOK into the landscape and nature and appreciate details that I would previously have never seen. Have been practicing this even when out walking the dog and I'm finding a new enjoyment from natures wondrous details and also a new appreciation for light. I also have a new found interest in understanding more of the ecology of the woodlands all of which I am learning from your films.

🇨🇦/🇺🇸... Hey there, Simon. I was a bit surprise just how much detail you managed to squeeze out of that "Leaf Galaxy". Gorgeous! The message of not getting caught up in every mediocre scene, really has a lot of value to me. After all, there is value in just putting your camera down, if there is not a shot, and just MINDFULLY BREATHING in nature. Sometimes, however, I get LAZY and too quickly just walk on by. Cheers, bro! 😊

Occasionally if I feel a bit tired say from an early rise and it’s late in the session I lose the will to take the bag off and check things out properly, so I may miss opportunities, I do try however to make sure I’m fully rested before I head out as much as possible,

Like a broken record, I’ll say again, I always learn something from each of your films, Simon! The last shot of leaves in the car park proves that there’s beauty in decay and imperfection. It is utterly beautiful… No need to reply to this one, Simon. Save your fingers!

The downside of getting to a certain size. Good in some ways, but in others, not so good. Like replying to all posts. I watch some channels with over 300k subscribers. I don't ask questions anymore and I rarely comment. I figure whatever I say is lost anyway. But I continue to enjoy the channel's content. I will continue to enjoy yours. I do tend to cherish the smaller channels, though, because there is a feeling of connection when they respond. But each channel has to do what is best for the channel. I am fairly sure the smaller channels I follow would not hesitate to grow large if and when they can. Thanks for another fine video, Simon.
@SimonBoothPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, I do read all the comments, so your time has not been wasted and when I come across one like this, I will endeavour to respond. I too leave comments on large channels and get nothing in return, so I know what that feels like. It is a shame because I love interacting with people on here but yes, it would appear that with popularity comes disconnection.
@capturesintime70803 жыл бұрын
The reason why you find the shots myself and others miss is because we (or I )have been guilty of looking too hard! You never seem to look too hard...you drift through calmly... but you do look. I think I go to woodlands with too many preconceived ideas of the shots I would like to find... im so focused on finding these that I look but I don't see. I need to go with a clearer mind... and a Macro lens... It will sound odd to you but I'd never have really thought to take the Macro for woodland shots, I'd not look at my feet, id pass by a murky puddle, id defo not think about shooting an image in the car park and I'd miss so much! Thanks... Id say finding your videos has been inspirational to my woodland and small scene photography... Thankyou!

What you said about looking at high quality photos struck a chord. I have friends and family who comment on how great my photos are; I play it down as I know they are 'OK'. I sometimes tell them that whilst they are looking at mine and other similar photos, I'm looking online at high level, quality images - a standard that I haven't (yet) reached. I do find it's a double edged sword though. Yes these quality images can be inspiring, but they can also create a feeling of inadequacy; going out to try to find a great image but coming back empty handed time and again. I guess there's nothing to do apart from patience, perseverance and practice.
@SimonBoothPhotography3 жыл бұрын
You have to remember that these high quality pictures don’t form a large portion of the photographers collection. It only takes one image to win a major prize!

Hello Simon, and GREETINGS from Evansville in Southwestern Indiana, USA!! Before I begin, let me first say that no reply is necessary. I started following you after Thomas Heaton accepted your challenge and mentioned you on his KZbin Channel. Not trying to curry favor here, but I'm glad he did because, quite frankly, I think I enjoy your channel even more than I do his!
