I enjoy your descriptions and commentary but man I wish there were menu shots! I like to see what I might have ordered as well as what reviewers got
@LetsEatVegas6 ай бұрын
Sorry about that. Menus are a difficult issue. A lot of viewers would find time spent showing the menu boring and would probably turn away at that point. We were trying to provide links to the menu in the description area but many times it's hard to find an accurate menu online. What we've done instead is to make sure every item we show is correctly labelled (as it appeared on the menu in the restaurant the day we were there) along with the price we paid.

My most nostalgic Chinese American dish is cold ginger chicken and sweet and sour pork. I recently went to South Korea and had the BEST ever sweet and sour pork in my life! Now I’m trying to find an equivalent here in Vegas! Its batter is lighter, the meat more tender and the sauce doesn’t over power the dish.

Thanks for sharing! Have you tried Amlee's?

We love pressed duck and Cantonese dishes...glad to hear there are CA restaurants serving this cuisine! Thanks for watching and commenting. 😁😁

It’s always about the chef. One of my favorite chinese restaurant in San Francisco dissapeared a few years ago. I was so disappointed. They had the best crispy fried ginger chicken. Also the best combination fried rice. Cooked with no soy sauce so it was white with great chicken flavor from chicken broth. It was clean and tasteful. I miss it so much, especially the crispy honey/garlic chicken dish. They also had fresh sautéed green pea shoots you can’t find in most restaurants. I often wonder where that chef went or if he retired.😢 Love your video!!

So many fine places are closing down these days, 😔. As for the chicken broth...that's an interesting comment because in an earlier video I suggested adding chicken broth to liven up the dish and we had a comment from someone saying that was crazy and not something you'd ever find in Chinese cuisine. Well, you can't please everyone, lol. Thanks for watching!

Great video! I will check out Amlee for sure, BTW, do you know any good place in vegas for champong spicy seafood noodle soup?

Hmmm, good question. I don't off hand but I'll be sure to keep my eyes open and let you know if I find that here in Vegas! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Everything I remember served during the 60's, 70's and 80's! Every dish looked awesome! The failure of your video review? Menu Pricing! The Lunch Special Cost?
@LetsEatVegas7 ай бұрын
The cost of every item is given within the video. Each section, such as the Mongolian Beef section, has a title and the cost is in parenthesis after the name. Thanks for watching!

Pressed duck 😱 Omg I haven’t had that in 50 years. You ordered everything I had when i was a child, all the dishes my parents would order. We’ll definitely have to go there. Thank you for the review, Sue

Great review. Yes a throwback restaurant. I am going to have to find it in a few weeks when I go to Las Vegas. Our local restaurant changed hands a couple times in the last few years. The last owners have brought back egg foo young, love it. Also sweet and sour pork, though not quite as good as i remember. The previous owners had gone to SS Chicken. Hope the SS Pork improves a bit. edit for grammar

Thank you! Amlee, the restaurant in this review, has had the same owners for the last 35+ years, so the food is authentic. Enjoy! 😋😋

They look more like spring rolls than eggrolls. The wrapper is not the same texture as the eggroll wrapper. Sorry to correct you. Food still looks delicious,btw.
@LetsEatVegas7 ай бұрын
Interesting comment...first and foremost, we always use the words the restaurant uses so as not to cause confusion when our viewers go to the restaurant. Amlee calls these items Egg Rolls. The difference between egg rolls and spring rolls was a topic we originally discussed in this video but decided to leave out because we talked about too much other history in this video already and didn't want to overwhelm viewers. We plan to address this EggRoll/SpringRoll topic in a future video, so, stay tuned, 😁😁. Anyway, thanks for the comment!

Yes, we were very surprised to find it at Amlee. As for the sauce, I suggest speaking with Lin and describing the sauce you'd like. Maybe they can accommodate? Would love to hear back from you on this!
