Dusty is a veteran he should no longer be the main playmaker. His younger teammates need to step up and support him to get the best out of him, you know he still has the talent to break apart games. Look at pendlebury or fyfe and how they can contribute despite their age, its thanks to the younger players taking responsibility

I agree in Dusty being better suited to play in the front half, but to counteract that, if the ball isn’t getting up there, then what is the point?

True. He was probably told to drop deeper in defence to help them get the ball down to their front end.

But if he does get it down there then to who? Shai may well have not even played so the only legitimate target was Lefau. We can't rely solely on the draft if this is a sign of things to come, in this day and age rebuilds take well over a decade and with tassie coming in its going to hurt. We need to do a Geelong and aim for free agents to keep us alive while the youngsters get games aswell

Really good point @scleaver. Against the Eagles Dusty and Bolton basically stayed forward the whole game and it just didn’t get down there. It’s all a balance with no one correct answer

lordy never heard of josh gibcus. hes an elite young key back. he will slot down back perfectly next year and having balta up forward will boost the tigers scoring. duz does need to play more front half footy but if he aint getting to ball there hes taking responsibility to get it him self and lift the team. his lasting legacy will be improving our kids which he is already doing, look at lefau hes been amazing for us.

I reckon Dusty would be good as a full time forward, he's very handy at kicking goal thus kicking 332 goals over his career, the midfield position is the most demanding position and taxing. To add more years to his career, the Tigers should have him up forward 50. Hey, leading goalkicker for a season for Richmond (Michael Roach Medal) and Coleman Medal would be a nice addition to Dusty's glowing list of accolades.

He’s the only 3 norm smith medal winner in history and he did this in 4 years. AFL/VFL has existed for 127 years. Kane, unless you willing to criticise Ken Hinckley after a loss, there is a certain point where you need to shut the hell up (even if I was a Port fan I would say that). I’m an Eagles man but to start having a go at Dusty is classless, what he has done has been remarkable in footy. You have a go at Selwood You have a go at Cotchin (in fairness, this was humour so this was the lightest one) You have a go at Dusty You have a go at Harley Reid… Is Port immune from everything? or do you need a permission slip from your changeroom to give any criticism of your former club?

WTF planet is Kane on? That footage highlighted how hard Martin is working to be the extra man, to keep the momentum going. Thats exactly how a person is supposed to play. Get up on the ball carrier,, get the handball then kick to a leading forward before the defenders and opposition flood back and block all the free space.

Kane have you even considered the injury lists we have and the key players getting older and injured. Dusty is one bloke and even though he is one of the most talented player in recent VFL AFL history ,he is still human and one bloke. The comp is probably the most unpredictable it has ever been this year and no team is really dominating all 4 quarters and tipping is a nightmare this year.

I think Kane Cornes has Narcissistic Personality Disorder or something lol. I googled it and it said “a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance”. He has absolutely no self-awareness whatsoever, his team has won only 1 AFL flag in their history (but Port are amazing in SANFL), the way Kane talks is like someone that has won 50 flags. Kane is not the messiah of football opinion but inside his head he views himself this way. The reason I think Kane is a narcissist is that he sees himself above others so no one is “worthy enough” for Kane to take seriously after he gets criticised. He probably thinks “they are below me… I am the great Kane Cornes”

Ok Kane let’s do a little tigers history lesson. After Richmonds 1980 flag from 1981 - 2016 in 35 years the tigers only won 3 finals…. They were a disaster during that period… these finals wins came in 1982, 1995, 2001. Dustin Martin’s record during 2017-2020 2017 - flag, norm smith, Richmond best and fairest, Brownlow, AFLPA award, All Australian 2018 - all Australian, tiges miss out on making granny 2019 - flag, norm smith 2020 - flag, norm smith, all Australian A guy who’s team got destroyed in 2007 granny by 20 goals lecturing Dusty on how to play footy? Give me a goddamn break 😂. If Kane was a cricket journalist in the 1930’s/1940’s he would be lecturing Bradman about how his batting technique is a liability.
