Bro that shop you went to and the one next to it sometimes has a dish called Laieng. (Not sure if that's the right spelling). It is meat with coconut cream, taro leaves and chille. Taste a bit like luau but philo style. That stuff is the Bomb

most filipino foods are actually cooked using tomato sauce. the ones you thought curry are actually tomato based. Caldereta, Menudo, Afritada. actually Filipino and Spanish fusion. most filipino foods are influenced by the spaniards since it was under their colonization for 300 years. also Chinese has a lot of influence the way Filipinos cook our foods.
