There are definitely more feminine-smelling ingredients and compositions in fragrance than others, and more masculine as well. Fragrance isn't a gender studies course in college--there are generalities, it's not "necessarily" a no-gender science. It'd be very off-putting to smell a woman wearing "Man" by Jimmy Choo, and likewise: a man wearing Black Opium by Saint Laurent. There are of course unisex fragrances and notes, but there are definitely leanings, just like gender.

Recently, I enjoyed wearing the combination of Prada "Luna Rossa Black" with "Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir". They seem to pair very well with each other. I also added to them Source Adage "Aka'ula", and that was a good addition to that kind of combination. I recommend it.

Hi Sebastian. So I had good success layering Ambra Calabria with Xerjoff Nio since both are green and the greenness happen to be very similar. I also like Carthusia Mediteranio layered over Aqua Viva. Lastly I don’t layer these but I like to wear black phantom one or two sprays on my chest and Tam dao on my neck it tones down the sweetness and accentuates the sandalwood. Give them a shot. Great video Sebastian. I don’t layer fragrances so often. But the duo I quite enjoy layering is TF Noir Extreme and Dior Homme Original. The fresh and floral qualities of Dior homme compliments the deeper/warmer notes in Noir Extreme.

Sebastian I wonder, by layering do you mean spraying one right on the same spot the other was sprayed on (e.g. as if one as primer, a la Molecule 01), or do you mean combining them e.g. spraying on adjacent spots, or one on one side of the neck/ears/body vs. the other on the other side? (Or both ways could be called layering maybe?)

👍😃 Interesting topic and much more helpful having names to layer each other simply notes. Encre Noir & Guilty Absolute work really well together. I bought a 100ml of Guccis and over te that more chemical leaning leather accord got a bit exhausting for my noise. This way its a but better even if that pencil shaving in Encre Noir is very prominent too. To be honest, in Maharees i miss more the cloves then the musk. Any cheapy i can combine it with that is heavy on the cloves side?

I tried to combo TT Ursa and AF Anubiss Kiss (Black Afgano clone). Interesting result, I love Ursa as it is, but sometimes I wish it would have a bit of that hash/cannabis note in there. Will probably be damned for this sacrilegious practice, but that's life LOL

I am no mixologist but I think I discovered a gorgeous,nice one. What a combination! I found out that adding this fragrance to any fougere, barbershopy fragrance elevates it creating a deeper foamy , cloudy textured aromatic orgasmic olfactory experience. Try it out ,that's awesome 👍 Swedoft - Barbarian and then apply Tom Ford - Beau de Jour or Even better The Tragedy of Lord George - Penhaligon's. A much more musky , vanillic and deepening soft, foamy base prolonging the aromatic nuances of this gorgeous fougeres. The most prominent note in Barbarian is the musk with The vanilla and caramel as secondary, supporting players and these fougeres mentioned above are being life extended by it and their aromatic, herbal,soapy nuances deepens significantly. I cannot emphasize this enough how orgasmic this smell combination is.

I have ordered these two fragrances but not yet had the chance to try them. Strangely enough the thought suddenly came to me today: could these two represent a layering opportunity? They are La Liturgie des Heures and Comme des Garcons Wonderwood. Not that I would ever rush to do something like this, as I expect them each to be exquisite in their own right. Yet, from what I have read about each, my expectation is that they are both rather "linear", the one simply being "incense," the other "wood"--and each of them intensely what it is, if you follow me. Thus, the thought intrigues me: intense incense + intense wood....

Did lots and lots of listening, comparing reviews, before taking the leap on a "blind (but informed) buy." Wonderwood is also a blind buy on a similar basis. That's my risk limit, no more, until I can get home to America and find out what I've done.... 😏
