This year just felt very dystopian - there are just too many things going on in the world to think or care about what celebrity is wearing what outfit and the whole thing (met gala not your video!) was just tone deaf

agreed - the fact that the tickets alone cost around $75,000 which could help out so many people in a place of crisis or conflict is absolutely insane. events like this really show that the majority of celebrities have no awareness about worldwide issues and would rather spend their money on ridiculously priced tickets and outfits instead of using it for the greater good. not to mention how big events take attention away from the issues themselves, like qatargate. it’s really dystopian.

I do agree, but the issues you’re probably talking about have been going on for years, so I dunno, why would they (celebs etc.) change now?

@@nellivilhelmiina i get what you mean but we’re basically in the middle of ww3 so i feel like they should be taking a little extra action, but also as the years go on the prices of these events goes up like he says in the video. the main thing i’m talking about idk if it’ll get blocked by youtube lol but escalated in october, with similar events at least some celebs had said or done SOMETHING to show solidarity , but with this they’re just completely ignoring it or taking a side that suits them without actual knowledge of the situation

@@madeleina15 yeah I hear you. But as you mentioned there are wars going on. Wouldn’t go as far a saying WW3, but in Europe we still have crisis with Russia and Ukraine too. The issue with solidarity though is that supporting some party in the war can be seen as supporting terrorist organization. Supporting other party can be seen as something else. It’s not something that pop culture should mess with too much, because most have very limited understanding about the whole situation. But again I agree, I also know that it’s not realistic to expect things like these to stop (galas etc). Since they haven’t in the past years either.

@@nellivilhelmiina i understand that but a lot of celebs did immediately post about one side on october 7th, like the jenners, etc, and as you said the majority of the time they dont know what they’re talking about. it’s just frustrating to know that they’re either supporting that side because a) their management would drop them and brands would stop working with them if they posted about the victims of the literal ethnic cleansing instead of the ones carrying it out, or b) they saw other celebs post about it. and if someone did perceive it as supporting a terrorist organisation, they would have very little grasp on the situation too.
