The written pattern for this from the KB website says that to create a larger or smaller size (I'm going smaller) to cast on in multiples of 10. In my case, I'm casting on 60. HOWEVER... the chevron pattern works in multiples of 8... so when I would get to the last grouping, there's only 4 pegs left instead of 8 (because round 4 is k3, p1, k1,p1,k2), so I would only get halfway through the pattern the last time around. Shouldn't I be casting on in groups of 8, not 10? Thank you!

Question when you knit stitch to end of round, you loop yarn to front of peg rather than behind as in e wrap?

For it to come out looking like the photo it needs a 3/8" gauge.

What if your looms have odd numbers? I'm making a smaller hat with a 31 peg loom..
@reginadarlin5966 жыл бұрын
Nicole Ingram I’ve always been told that if your pattern ends in purl stitches to do the extra peg as a purl. If the pattern ends in a knit stitch then knit.

Do u think 5/8 would work on pattern?
@kimnovak52095 жыл бұрын
With 80 pegs, 5/8" gauge would need thicker yarn, and the finished knit will have a different look than the photo, it will look chunky.

How would you adjust sizing for an 8 year old?
@pugmcmuffins92825 жыл бұрын
Honestly your best bet is to go the size down from this set of looms. If you have worsted weight yarn, use KB's 72 peg loom with the 3/8" gauge. If you are using thicker yarn and using a 5/8" gauge loom use a 36 peg loom to fit an 8 year old. I hope this helps!

Why the 80 peg? When I make adult hats I always use the 36 peg loom.
@kimnovak52095 жыл бұрын
That's with large gauge. This loom is small gauge, meaning the pegs are much closer together and pegs are smaller. This will give you a tighter, smaller stitch, which is great for this chevron stitch pattern.

Right but I don’t have that loom.

Didnt like because that loom has way too many pegs that are not really needed for a project, also the yarn is too thin for a hat.
@pugmcmuffins92825 жыл бұрын
The loom has that many pegs to work with worsted weight yarn. It's a 3/8" of a gauge between pegs instead of a regular 5/8" that works best with thicker yarn. This way if you use worsted weight, you need less material.
@elizabethcrow86093 жыл бұрын
The smaller gauge looms actually take the finer yarn and can do more detailed stitches than large gauge and the finished pieces look better done than the large gauge looms. Typically it's more experienced knitters that use the fine gauge looms.
