Hi! I am sure you can knit this in the round, but you may want to use a loom that has an uneven number of pegs, due to the need to offset each row of the stitch pattern. You would also only work the mermaid stitches, leaving off the border stitches at each side. Good luck to you! 😊

I'm a little confused...at the end of the complete stitch when you finish with the e-wrap around the starting peg...isn't that a u-stitch being used? I do not see an e-wrap being made on that peg. (I'm still very new to this; so, I could be seeing things completely wrong).

Hi and thanks for your question! :) I can see where you would get the idea that this last stitch is actually a u-stitch, because it seems to just be wrapped across the front of the peg and knit off. This would be accurate, except for the fact that the working yarn is actually coming from the peg *after* it, so when the wy is wrapped behind and around the front of the previous peg in line (the one on the right in the video), this causes the wy to wrap full circle when it is brought around to the next peg to be worked. Technically, the ssk peg is actually an ewrap as well, as that one is brought all the way around when bringing the yarn back to the first peg...but for ease of explaining, we'll stick with what it *looks* like most, which is a u-stitch, lol. ;) I hope that helps! :D

I am wanting to use this stitch on a mermaid tail blanket. would this pattern support decreasing as needed toward bottom of blanket? Thank you

Kathy Bond Hello! :) I believe it would work...just remember to decrease by 2's so that you can continue the stitch without any hitch, lol! ;)

Hi Stef :) I see that in this particular Stitchology, there wasn't specific info for working in the round, but it will be an easy thing to do, as it is only a 2 row pattern with all the special stitches being worked in one direction. So, just use the same chart for the pattern in the post, leave off the border stitches and work in a number of stitches divisible by 3. Read all the rows on the chart from right to left, rather than alternating. To make the pattern offset from each other, there will be one knit stitch extra at the beginning of one of the rows with special stitches (I believe row 3). That should get you going! :)

If I want to make this 10" wide, how many more pegs do I use

Kika Ramirez Hi :) It would all depend on your particular gauge, but if it was me wanting 10", I would add 4 pegs inside the border pegs, for an additional 2 peg pairs needed to work the stitch. Of course the most sure fire way to know would be to work a swatch and add the correct number (divisible by 2) that *you* would need to do to equal 10". ;) All the details on how to work the entire pattern are included in the link to the pattern above in the video notes.
