Is the true stitch the same as the purl stitch? I’m still confused. I wish, that you show the second row how turned back the different stitches.
@LoomaHat6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking - They are almost identical except for the placement of the working yarn. For the True - you put the yarn above the existing loop and for the purl - you put it below the existing loop.

I was wonering the same do you do the same on the way bk. Also just think of the true stitch as an oppersite of the purl stitch as on the purl stitch you scoop your working yarn from the bottom as you wrap your working yarn at the bottom of the peg, where as the true stitch you wrap the working yarn at the top of the peg then scoop the top loop from the existing loop of the peg.if that makes sense? I'm thankful for your videos. You are saving me so much frustration. I bought a loom kit for a terminally sick friend that is bored. She once asked me to teach her to knit. But I couldn''t teach myself to knit without wanting to jump off a cliff. This looks easier than classic knitting, so I bought her a loom kit and some accessories. However, I was at a complete loss deciding what videos to direct her to start with. This one first. Middle of virus going around, not about to become a personal tutor, getting her sick or myself. Looking forward to starting this hobby myself and helping my friend over the phone if I can. Thanks.

Love your videos, Denise! Could you please show what these stitches look like when repeated in a swatch? I'm looking for variations to achieve different effects. In particular, which stitches will produce a tighter weave? bulky weave? Alternative stitches to achieve "embroidered" type designs for trims, embellishments? Many times I start with a bulky yarn (5 wt), but there is too much space between the stitches when I want a tighter weave. Hoping you can help. Thanks again.

As a long time hand knitter which I love, love doing, around 65 years this loom knitting seems much more complicated! I will always try anything new before I make a final decision, so I have ordered a seletion of looms to try. At present I think hand knitting will be much quicker. The only looms I have at present are my weaving looms which, of course, are completely different from knitting. Plus an enormous collection of knitting needles, two spinning wheels, an embroidery machine, a sewing machine, a huge collection of yarn mostly spun myself very fine which I prefer, ......!

@@LoomaHat Okay quick question... I re-watched your great video and took notes this time :D , but I'm a little confused at the very end for the P2TOG. For knitting off you placed the yarn above the stitches, and then used the hook to pull the two stiches over. But on a purl, don't you place the yarn below your loop normally? So what is it that you're pulling over in a P2TOG? Sorry, I know you get a ton of comments and replies, I'm just *so* new that I'm a little confused. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! :)

The U-wrap is the same as the flat version if you put the yarn for the flat wrap loosely. Then you don't have to do each peg individually, you can do a bunch at a time. And I agree with Ditta, below: the true stitch looks a lot like the purl stitch.

Hi, I was wondering how the U wrap is different from the flat stitch. Is it only that it's looser or is there a functional difference because of where the yarn is flipped over? It just seemed that the U wrap ended with the same result as the flat stitch, just using a slightly different method.
@dionnearroyo4 жыл бұрын
I purposely came to the comments to see if i was crazy thinking the same exact thing. Was hoping for an answer :(
@NettylSpryngs4 жыл бұрын
@@dionnearroyo Okay, I've been experimenting with this a lot recently, and it seems like they're the same. The flat stitch just comes out a little tighter. What I like to do is just hold the yarn more loosely when a pattern calls for a U stitch. The flat just goes faster for me, so I just hold the working yarn loosely, and if I notice a stitch seems kinda tight, I just tug on it a little with my hook.
@dionnearroyo4 жыл бұрын
Nettyl Spryngs i did the same thing and noticed the same too. I also rather flat and tighten because it’s faster. At least I’m not the only one lol

Hi - first, I'm happy to know that you want to go beyond the eWrap. That's awesome. I would suggest doing a search for the projects that are of interest and listen to those videos to know if any of them will serve you well. In general people are inconsistent. Where one video may lack enough information for you, another video from the same creator may give you enough. Only you can make that determination for yourself.

Krystal - the Purl stitch is super important in your loom knitting journey and the True Knit stitch is only the opposite of the Purl. You're puting the working yarn over the existing loop instead of under. I have faith in you as a knitter and me as your teacher - so I know you can handle it. But remember - if the Uwrap is easier for you just use that one. That's the one I use like 99.9 % of the time and I know you like that one - so use it 🙂
