I have watched so many of your videos and love the way you explain things-concise, yet thorough, and CONSISTENT & RELIABLE. I feel like because you are thorough, once I watch the video, I feel like I understand it. But then when I see you do the same thing in your other videos, because you are consistent, I really am confirming that I understand it. You are a great teacher!! Thank you!! ❤

I have learned different names for the loom knit stitch. The e wrap we call cable stitch, the true or classic stitch we call knitting pearl, the flat stitch we call plain. It all works out in the end. I loved the great short little explanations you have on the 4 knit stitch types. Keep up the great work.

This video is so helpful. I bookmarked it and I refer to it often. You are an excellent teacher. Videos and instructions are very clear. It made me finally understand that there are FOUR (4) different versions of the knit stitch. Love the tip on the easiest and most difficult among them. Thank you for your hard work and for generously sharing it with the rest of us, especially the beginners, like me!

I'm pretty sure the non-e-wraps are "just" different ways of tensioning the same "needle knit" stitch. Someone showed me the true stitch, and I thought I could make it easier and came up with the flat stitch, but found it too tight, so I did the flat stitch one at a time instead of stretching the yarn flat against all the pegs. This ended up more like a "J stitch" which is somewhere between the flat-one-at-a-time and the U-stitch.

I just started loom knitting this month and have been doing my "U-wraps" without looping the yarn back around, just laying them flat as if doing the flat knit, but one peg at a time. Is there any difference between doing a "U-wrap" my way (so basically the flat knit) vs. the proper way, aside from maybe having a little tighter tension?
@Aliasbaba41
@Aliasbaba41 4 жыл бұрын
If you do one peg at a time, you have less chance in collecting tension. Otherwise no difference.

I really like the E rap on my loom, but how do I stop the first few rows from "curling"? right now I am working with a bungee cord that is 1/8 inch diameter and I get the same output results as if I was using yarn of any kind. my project is a dash mat for my truck. later on I might get more material and actually make seat covers with the bungee cord.

Can a u-stitch be used/modified to make a garter stitch? I know a garter is 1 row knit, 1 row purl, but can a u-stitch be done 1 row like a knit, 1 row like a purl, using a u-stitch instead of an e-wrap? I'm still early in the learning process, and am considering the possibilities for how to make a fairly tightly loomed blanket (want it warm & not too open) & the e-wrap sounds too loose. Garter &/or u-stitch are the way to go, I'm thinking, but can a u-stitch be used to make a garter-stitch? I also think a cable cast-on would complement the look of a garter stitch, better than any other cast-on/bind-on, but am also trying to find a matching cast-off/binding-off look.

Hi Mario - say the peg closes to the anchor peg is peg 1 - what you need to do is to pull on the peg next to that one to tighten that stitch. Hope that makes sense

Thanks for the video. It is an excellent way to show the various stitches. I do have one question. On the u-wrap it is possible to start behind and then wrap in front. What is that called....does it make the knit stitch or something entirely different?
@LoomaHat
@LoomaHat 9 жыл бұрын
Debbie Nemitz Hi Debbie - I saw your follow-up comment and yes what you describe is the e-Wrap and the results are VERY different. The size difference between an item made with a U vs an E wrap is close to half. Here is a website post that might help more: www.loomahat.com/knit-stitch/
@debbienemitz6669
@debbienemitz6669 9 жыл бұрын
LoomaHat.com Thanks for confirming. Once again thanks so much for a great video showing the various stitches. I did once use flat and it got way too tight. It's amazing how much difference just pulling it around like the u makes it so much larger. Although the e-wrap is faster and easier, it also makes the stitches so loose it can be a problem. Thanks again for everything..

I just started looming, and I am having difficulty doing any other stitches but the pur stitch. I tried to follow you; but it is difficult.

Roxanne - have you tried a basic hat first - I'm going to give you a link to an easy project but first watch the video COMPLETELY to the end before starting the project (you'll find the video at the bottom of the page) . PLEASE watch it to the end then get your supplies and try the project - come back and tell me how it went. If you get stuck - you need to tell me at which point so that I can try to help you. www.loomahat.com/simple-slouchy-cowl/

would you suggest the e wrap for hats?

Which one of the 4 stitches would you prefer for making rectangles that are 7" wide by 9 " long? 😃 😃 😃 Which later on will be used to make a blanket or quilt to be given away. The rectangles go to Michael's Craft Store.

I almost always prefer the U-wrap over the others but it really depends on the stitch pattern that I choose. Keep in mind that blankets are large projects and that the e-Wrap will go faster.

What brand of yarn are you using in this tutorial? Which brand do you use in most of your tutorials?
@LoomaHat
@LoomaHat 8 жыл бұрын
+Michelle CohoonGunderson I use everything - I'm mostly look for color to make sure you can see the stitches. I like Caron Simply Soft a lot but its best to follow the link to the pattern - I always list the yarn brand - type and color

+LoomaHat.com Oh, thank you so much! I guess I didn't do my homework very well, as I did not know you listed the yarn you used in the link. I was mainly paying attention to the tutorial. I've been using Red Heart Super Saver yarn and it hasn't been working so well for me. I believe it's either too thin, or I need to double the strands. I really only use your tutorials because you explain things so well, and what happens if I do or do not do something like you've instructed. I really appreciate your help!

Very new to knitting. How do you do swatches? Would like to practice without using the whole loom like in video. Can u help explain the technique to me.
@LoomaHat
@LoomaHat 8 жыл бұрын
Leannah - just do 10 stitches and 10 rows - that will help you see the results of the stitch with the desired yarn and loom.

I’m doing the e-wrap, and my inside is so so loose. The stitches are barely visible, and the bars are so long. What am I doing wrong?
@LoomaHat
@LoomaHat Жыл бұрын
You're not necessarly doing anything wrong. The eWrap on a large gauge loom is very loose. You either have to get a small gauge like a CinDwood or a KB loom, knit with two strands, use chunky yarn or use a different version of the knit stitch, like the Uwrap.

I don't really see a difference between "U" wrap and flat.... Is it just a matter of tightness?
@LoomaHat
@LoomaHat 6 жыл бұрын
That’s correct- the flat is tighter and so a tiny bit smaller

@LoomaHat

Hi Hina - you're question is VERY broad - it's really about design - unfortunately, It's impossible for me to tell you when, Just keep in mind that the E give you a larger, looser stitch and the U will give you a smaller, tighter stitch.
