It should be remembered that many 'Classic Toons' were shown in movie theaters, as part of Intermission. Shmexy Lizard and other adult theme bits were to keep Dad and older brother awake during the show.

there was some great cartoons made back then, they are still shown today, and some of them are from 80 years ago. (bugs bunny started in 1938, and he wasn't the first, just most famous) the violence wasn't really a problem because we all knew it was make believe.. the racism, especially in some that were banned was unbelievable... they had at least one with bugs bunny killing Japanese AND calling them all very racist names, i'm assuming it came out during the war, but still. wow. granted go back to the 50s or so and there was a lot of racism in most things. if you want to see a very funny set of cartoons look for Tex Avery's house of tomorrow, farm of tomorrow, and car of tomorrow.... love those, and they are on youtube, around 2 to 3 minutes each.... it did predict the future a little, 'a machine for junior to ask questions' is not to far off from a computer or smart phone. and the cartoons are from 1949 i believe.
