@LucasMiddleNameandLastname22Ай бұрын
Y'know, when you think about it, following down the Narrator's original plot, without disobeying him at any time, is... kinda against the whole freedom thing, in both a meta perspective, and from a writing standpoint. Is the narrator from stanley parable a *bad* writer? new game theory.
@idc2932Ай бұрын
@@LucasMiddleNameandLastname22 I always thought that was intentional, since in the cutscene for that ending you can't control Stanley anymore, unlike all of the other ones where you're still in control when it resets. Us listening to the narrator helps Stanley break free from _our_ control, which I thought was cool
@LucasMiddleNameandLastname22Ай бұрын
@idc2932 yeah i guess, i guess it is a matter of perspective.
@JackCipherCreations29 күн бұрын
@@LucasMiddleNameandLastname22 That's the actual point. You follow the Narrator's instructions the entire Time, and you're left with an unsatisfactory experience. The final line from the narration is "Stanley was happy." You spend the entire run being obedient, playing out this little tale of destroying a mind control device, but you're doing it because he TOLD you to. He has to TELL you that you got a happy ending because you're probably sitting there by the end thinking, "that's it?" You're not being rebellious. You're not taking on some big adventure. You, the player, are behaving like the obedient Stanley. But when you play the other routes, the Narrator gets annoyed, trying to build up the story he wants to tell you as being something he worked really hard on and that he thinks is really profound and interesting. The truth is, pushing the bounds of the map and the game itself, and seeing how the Narrator reacts accordingly is the most interesting part of the game.
@natchu9629 күн бұрын
@@LucasMiddleNameandLastname22 The entire black meta-humor situation behind following the narrator's plot to get the Freedom ending is that you're essentially doing what Stanley was mind controlled into doing during the intro: sitting in front of a computer desk, following instructions on the screen about what buttons to push and when to push them. And to top it all off, it ends with "And Stanley was happy" once again. It's a perfect book end for me, really.

@Char1ieYT28 күн бұрын
@@rudysmith1445 by normal ending i mean the one where you shut off the mind control and leave, the one that most people do first
@Eryncerise28 күн бұрын
@Char1ieYT Weirdly, that isn’t the one most people do first in my experience. Most players’ first instinct is to see what happens if they don’t choose the door on the left, so most get one of the right door endings first. Apartment ending and Games ending are the most common first endings IME. Trust me, I’ve seen way more Stanley Parable playthroughs than is probably healthy for a person 😅
@plugshirt176226 күн бұрын
@@Eryncerise Yeah it is kind of hard to resist the main premise of the game by disobeying the narrator. I would definitely still say it is the normal ending though since it is the only one that doesn't really get meta at all and is the main story the narrator is trying to guide you along
@Eryncerise26 күн бұрын
@@plugshirt1762 I should clarify - by “I’ve seen more playthroughs than is healthy”, I mean I’ve actually run stats before on the endings people get most often. Based on fifty random Let’s Plays, about 72% of players choose the right door first. Most common endings are more spread out, but the Apartment Ending is the most common first ending (18%) tied with the Powerful Ending (aka: the “jump off the platform” ending). After that is Freedom/Normal Ending (14%), Coward Ending (10%), Confusion Ending (8%), Mariella Ending (8%), Games Ending (6%), and Zending (6%). So, you’re right that the normal ending is fairly common! But it’s just edged out by the Apartment Ending for most common, or at least it was in my sample anyway.

i will never get tired of watching people play this game for the first time. the writing is so sharp and utterly delightful. it feels like a love letter to video games and interactive media. Davey Wreden, the creator, is making a new game; Wanderstop. I dont wanna give too much away but it looks like a unique spin on farming/management sims but with the kind of fourth walk breaking and introspective themes found in TSP. He also made a smaller more narrative experience, The Beginners Guide. Def not a good lets play game but i still recomend trying it out as it also has spectacular writing and a deeply impactful story. sorry for the yap sesh, this game has a special place in my heart, and so does Daveys other work. the "cut it off at the funny moment" style of editing actually really suits this game!! makes some bits so much funnier lol. also YOU GOT THAT THING WITH ANOTHER STANLEY WALKING AROUND, I SHIT YOU NOT I SAW HIM WHILE PLAYING AT LIKE 4 AM AND GOT SO SCARED I JUST CLOSED THE GAME😭😭😭 thankfully there are not that many scary moments in stanley parable but when you see one it hits hard

Please please PLEASE play the rest of the game, the new content endings get crazy! And this is one of the funniest playthroughs of the game I’ve seen by the way! I was belly laughing at your suspicions of it being a horror game, not to mention how many endings you got before you even reached the two doors in the beginning!

Hey, thats me!! Keep doing stuff british wheatley! It’s refreshing to watch people actually enjoy a game rather than criticizing it. Could you by chance play battle block theatre? Thank you again british wheatley!! a greedy little edit of mine: I have uploaded a new song that would probably work nice as outro music to your videos if you would like to use it. Mostly asking because Id like to grow as a creator too and I think it would benefit us mutually (more on my side tbh but still). play battle block theater no matter what though 🙏
@LooneyWooneyАй бұрын
AYYY THANKS!!! REALLY APPRECIATE IT! I appreciate the offer but I don't really have an outro unless it's for a funny moment like the miside video, you can advertise here i don't mind though.

@ thanks wheatley!! your dono and members thingie seemed like an outro In all honesty but thats probably just me. Anyways wheatley, I hope you have a great day!!

Even knowing some of these bits and jokes from the game by heart, your reactions to all the different endings and secrets made this such a great experience seeing the game all over again. Your own comedy matches up really well beat for beat with the Narrator and the not-so-occasional insanity of these endings! Whether it makes it into a video or not, hoping you play and enjoy more of the rollercoaster that is TSP!

Oh my god…. This is actually the most entertaining video I’ve seen in a very long time (and I mean that). I’ve just been getting into this whole fandom, and you have such a fun interaction with the narrator! Not to mention, your gameplay is making me realize just how utterly unhinged this game is if you deviate from how it’s typically played (as in, climbing out of a presumably closed window) Needless to say, this was a great thing to watch on my birthday, so thank you!
