I worked on Tokyo Drift. We did all the CG cars. Note that ALL the actions the cars did, could have been done by the incredible drivers they had, but we were forced to create CG cars because of Laws in Japan. Certain areas were not allowed to be film on/blocked off, and others were considered to dangerous to film, even after stunt drives proved they could do the action multiple times without fail. The director could tell a driver, "We need you to drift 1 foot closer to this pole" and the drive could nail it next run. They were THAT good.

A Knight's Tale is so great! There are a few scenes that were cut, that should never have been cut; scenes which give the supporting characters more depth and clearer motivations. Also, Kung Pow is a laugh riot! I saw it in the theater, and absolutely busted a gut. So many laugh out loud moments.

Things you learn as a media analyst specializing in movies is that most film critics are movie school people, which means they have fairly narrow definitions of what makes a good movie, meanwhile the public actually watches movies for enjoyment and not because they couldn't find a niche in said movie industry outside of criticism. This is why movies that adhere to the Kubrick Rubrick or the Spielberg iceberg get higher criticism ratings even if the public absolutely loathes the movie. Lots of film makers loved the movies of the late 70s early 80s and 90s, and they keep making them without knowing what actually made the movies so memorable. Kinda like tracing an artists drawings and not realizing why your drawings aren't as loved.

Tokyo Drift was my favorite F&F movie. Something about how it takes a kid out of his element and throws him into this new underground that he does not understand. From the main character knowing nothing about drifting to becoming a great drifter to win was a great ride. The First TNMNT will never be duplicated or done better in my opinion. Such a great movie glad they stuck more to a movie that appealed to both kids and adults. I still watch it today. The first two mummy movies were great even with the rocks bad cgi. I loved these two movies like a more mythical indiana jones. Space balls will always be one of my favorite movies and often quoted.

Most of these are my re-watchable guilty pleasures. If your loved one can't trade movie quotes with you at Ludicrous Speed, are they really right for you? If a guy can't recite Mel Brooks or Monty Python, there is no second date. Standards. The Godzilla movie was nowhere on my radar, so I'm checking it out. (My mom made us call it Gosh-zilla as kids. I shit you not.) Heath Ledger still breaks my heart. I hated most of the characters in Pitch Black so much that I rooted for the aliens, but I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've watched Chronicles of Riddick. I thought Summer School with Will Ferrell as hilarious, but it doesn't get the love his other roles do.
