Yeah dude, for some reason I only noticed Looper recently, and this is pretty much the ideal tutorial for it - straightforward, super clear and efficient, and the music you make to demonstrate is pretty effortlessly dope, which is inspiring. Good job!

Brilliant. I picked up a Launchpad Pro for my son who is 11-years old. I am an analog musician and this makes us excited because we can literally start writing together even though my son is not an analog musician. We are very excited because of your short video, so thank you!!

Hey man! Great video. I've got a question: you mapped 5 controls for that particular channel. Is there a way to map the same 5 buttons to work for other tracks, depending on the selection? So for example when I select a different track, the same 5 work for the looper on the selected track? I found this annoying because mapping those buttons only works for the particular looper you map them to. I'd love some info on this.

Hi Anonymous Animal 2. I have seen few videos and i think you are doing a great job, so just carry on like that. I bought an Akai LPD8 and LPK25 but still struggling with looping/mapping as i am not too knowledge about that. Could you tell me if i can record loops with FL Studio as well? I mean as you did in this video: recording sample by sample to be looping all the time and then i can add more things to that loop.

Great lil' tutorial, thank you! I'm wondering... sometimes I loop vocals but then I want to change the bpm... but the that alters the pitch of the looped vocals. Is there a way to keep the vocals from changing in pitch once they're looping and I alter the BPM? Thanks!

HI, thank you for your tutorial, it was really helpful ! I'm a singer and keyboardist. I wanted to know how to seperate functions you assign to lpd8 pads from another midi keyboard on Ableton when playing live ? Some keys might trigger "recording" while I play melodies, or unrequested samples, because one of the pad is assigned to C3 for exemple. Thank you in advance !
@sunblooom4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, this is actually easier than you might think. In the session view, under input, just change the midi input to "LPD8" and for your other instruments, change it to whatever your keyboard is. Hope this helps!

great video just a question how can i record a session loop?When i have already record loops i go to to the mix view of ableton and the playback gives me only separate loops of my voice. It doesn't playback the layers of loops.I here the loops separate. I have to launch the looper in order to here my loop. BASICALLY WHAT I WANT TO SAY IS THAT In the mix view the looper session is not recorded.

you didn't show us the session view screen. did you directly record into the looper or you recorded both in the clip and the looper. when I record in the clip and the looper it becomes so loud as it play both the clip and the looper audio. sure I'm missing some thing here and not using the looper the way it intended to be. pls help..

Thanks for the vid. I can't seem to figure out how you have this routed in Ableton? Where is the actual LOOPER? Is it in an audio track a midi track or a return track??? Is it subjected to the songs linear form when you loop or is it independent of that? Please help. Thank you!

Maybe a noob question, but why do you use an Novation Launchpad together with the Akai MPD-8? Could you not just map the record/play/etc. buttons to the launchpad?

@RodaRora9 жыл бұрын
Hi,I've got a little question about this tutorial! Is it possible to use the laptops' keyboard instead of a midi controller? I'm very interested in live looping but -probably just as most of other collage students- I don't really have a big budget (especially after spending all my savings on a new mic
@AnonymousAnimal29 жыл бұрын
+Rinkaia I don't think you can map your keyboard for looping. If you don't need to loop to something with a steady BPM i would recommend a loop pedal. Some are very cheap and allow you a lot of freedom. It really depends on how you would want to loop.
@InTheMusicBox9 жыл бұрын
+Rinkaia I do not think that you need to map anything in order to use Ableton... you just use your mouse or mousepad and click on buttons and faders.... That being said, having a midi controller makes sense as the process becomes a lot faster and easier than navigating your mouse and clicking. Get a novation launchpad mini, it would be about 100$ I think....Also on the bonus side, if you buy any novation hardware, you do get an intro version of Ableton live (with limited abilities that is). He even has the Launchpad mini but he does not use it in this video, so I really do not get why he does not suggest you getting a launchpad instead of a looping pedal. A loop pedal that was suggested is a lot more expensive than a novation launchpad mini. You can find cheap midi controllers, and if you are at uni, if you know someone that studies music, you can probably rent a midi keyboard or something for a set period of time. I used to rend a midi keyboard from uni when I was a student....
@AnonymousAnimal29 жыл бұрын
This is all correct. I have the launchpad mini set to launch backing tracks that I sing or play to. The LPD8 only has a few knobs and buttons which makes for less mapping. The knobs are also great to control parameters like volume, reverb, etc. You Can absolutely map the Launchpad Mini to a looper, but it's just a lot of buttons that end up not being used. That said, they are very affordable. Both the LPD8 and the Launchpad Mini are well under $100 and are super fun and customizable. Highly recommended. There are also some great midi controllers for under a $100 that have buttons, faders, and knobs. the possibilities are endless. There's so many ways to do the same thing. It's all preference and what fits best into your style and budget. Thanks for the great feedback! Cheers!

Go to a charity shop and buy a used guitar midi pedal. Many have 8 pads and you can then use it hands free as your feet can do the triggering. I found an old one in my attic from the 80's and bought a midi to USB cable for $3 from China.

how do you deal with feedback when you're playing live with loud monitors?
@AnonymousAnimal28 жыл бұрын
+Nick Monaco Keep the mic pointed away from the monitors and maybe get a mic with on on/off switch. Its a tough balance between getting a good level and hitting that feedback volume. Monitors are tough, but maybe try using headphones some of the time until you find a good solution.
