@@loopop I'm just playing anyway but it would have been nice to see somebody use it to see how the workflow looks in action. Heavy menu diving vs the 505. How easy is it to access effects in real time while recording etc. If it was just a sound video you would not even need video nobody was expecting that. It is a valid point IMO. I appreciate the level of detail put into the video and your knowledge of the products is extensive no doubt. I am curious how easy it would be to improvise with the FX on the 600 without spending a bunch of time preparing everything on the floor or with the unit on the desktop. They should have had better ways to navigate with your feet perhaps. An up/down and a select button?
@CSW823 жыл бұрын
Main problem with my rc500 is the amount of time I spend crouched on the floor to access pretty much any setting. With all the extra tracks, effects and options it looks like an extra controller is a must for the rc600. Or I give up a track for the 505, but would still need footswitches....
@nexgen913 жыл бұрын
If it were not for the limitation of 16 assigns, the 600 might have been a better choice for me, but I need hands on control of a lot of those parameters. If I need more than 5 tracks, then its time to use Ableton/ClyphX and my Pacer lol.

@paulwhiting17312 жыл бұрын
I think one of the main concerns of potential buyers is how well the MK2 syncs to midi clock, I would want it as a slave and from what I have read of the MK 1, is that, it is not good at all in that role. Most solutions to sync problems, even from Roland, is to make the 505 the master, but this is not a satisfactory answer. I hope the MK 2 has improved midi implimentation, but I haven't seen much about that, even customer service at Roland (USA) couldn't confirm if any update was made to the midi spec.
@chriskelvin2482 жыл бұрын
I second this. But either as being a slave to another piece's clock, or using this as a master. Would be so useful to be able to tweak the tempo knob on the 505 and any outboard arpeggios/ sequences or delay settings to obediently follow along with the changes. I imagine not everyone would use this to automate their synth performances as audio from within the looper itself. Especially when there is usually so much more to fiddle around with on the source hardware.
@acidhousetracks52712 жыл бұрын
I as well would like to know this. I went with another option due to the midi sync issues reported about 505. I would jump on this right away if I knew the midi sync as slave (as well as master) works like it should.

@@director2bob Well, it's really cool. I pulled it out and got a VERY basic understanding of how it works. I played with it that night, and then I put it back in the case and I have not touched it since. That is no reflection on the looper, simply the fact that I'm busy all the time, and I'm old. I think you'll love it. The one night I spent with it was a definite proof of concept and proof of potential for me. I'm certain that with some time I could do a show with one. Though I prefer the 505mk2 form factor and much like yourself I like the extra buttons and the faders for certain, my conflict is that I am also a guitarist so my big question is how to integrate both units and then how to support stereo recordings because unless I am deaf which is quite possible, did I hear each track is mono?

My solution to the more assign would be to have each channel listen to a different midi channel. Like you have 16 assigns for track 1 on MIDI channel #1, track 2 on MIDI channel #2 and so on. Maybe general assigns could come in the last MIDI channel for input and output FX....
@its.stacygabriel Жыл бұрын
one MASSIVE thing that people should know because I watched every video trying to trouble shoot this issue... is to assign your mic to one of the Chanels for me I set it to 5.. and to turn mic OFF for the Chanels you want to record synth or guitar sounds on.... if youre a keyboard player and you have your loops set to record when you press a key.. if your mic is picking up any sound it will trigger your loop at random times and not be in sync.. you will be wondering why your bass line starts late or ends early and yank your hair out.
@WolfGoneMad Жыл бұрын
But by doing it like you described it will work, did I get that right? Thanks for the info!
@voborny9 ай бұрын
Wow the premixing capabilities alone make this worth the upgrade. One of the issues I have with the old version is that sending more than 1 instrument into it gets a kinda muddy. Especially if you're doing leads + rhythms through the same output. But with this I can premix multiple instruments with panning and then (if I'm not mistaken) submix each track out via separate outputs. That not only solves my muddy bass/keys/guitar mix but also eliminates the need to premix on a mixer which frees up like 6 channels on my mixer that I can do anything with. That is just wild. Why haven't I already upgraded???

This is quite clearly a "must watch" and I haven't even seen it yet! I have the old 505, found it a bit clunky, but very versatile. These updates are exciting. Do you still have to have the rhythm on to get it to slave to external midi clock? That was always a problem. Also the midi receive transport had some mystical menu which was another issue. I both hated the 505 yet admired it.
@loopop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the trust :) re your question - I didn't try but you can always lower the level of the rhythm to zero
@mymockumentary97163 жыл бұрын
@@loopop absolutely, I ended up doing that, you know those generic Boss beats.... urgh. Any idea on the menu diving with the midi slave transport controls? The original 505 had to be set when turned on, and would lose the setting when turned off. Big warning to new players of the old 505, it will not slave without rhythm being turned on, thus you are unable to get set bars. Having to manual stop while all other midi devices stop automatically is not so bad, but as stated you can menu dive to get the 505 to respond to "stop". It will automatically respond to start, but not stop. I wonder if the 505-2 or 606 have this same affliction which haunted me for months and made me want to burn/smash it....

Pros: Boss sticks to the Screen/UI/navigation design a BOSS user is familiar for many years with. Including screen size and resolution. Con: This is so dated,. Some innovation in UI design, bigger screens, maybe color, more easy navigation is no super expensive witchcraft anymore. Rumors say, some innovative companies included touch screens in devices - or buttons dynamically labeled by mini screens ... ;)
@frankstetka72062 жыл бұрын
It’s costing, a factor that probably led Boss to use that now dated usb connection probably because the parts were super discount or they had an overstock while designing the new units. The sound quality improvement alone is worth the price of admission as I intend to send many loops upstream but I still find both of these units frustrating from this lovely review. I don’t know if I should get both and pray I can sync them or wait until someone makes a great interface for a tablet 🤣
