For this simple example I think it would be easier to set the serial_number variable equal to the automatic SAS observation number variable (an n surrounded by underscores)

One small doubt. If we use set statement to merge two table then it will merge in stack form. But in ur video a new variable counter is created and all values got merge. Can you please explain this.
