amzn.to/2SiyxK3 I use these gojo scrubbing towels everyday and love them.
Tightening the loose flywheel on a gm bus. This detroit diesel inline 671 has a very loose flywheel. Removing the transmission to get to the flywheel. Replacing the rear main seal, flywheel bolts, throw out and pilot bearings and more

Scot & Kelly are an amazing couple! I am soooooo glad that they are in charge of repairing this 4104. There are too many horror stories of people doing shabby work, or not the right work, and charging high dollar prices, only to have the work needing to be redone. He is centrally located now, and Nashville is a terrific city to visit while they are working on your bus. Way to Scot & Kelly!!!!

When, I was young, my dad bought a 4104 and converted it to a motor home. This brought back so many memories, especially the reverse solenoid. Ours broke so it was my job to run to the back an do it manually. Good times!

Don't disregard the smooth and steady pulling power of the golf cart to help finesse your heavily loaded house out of the engine bay. For harder "controlled pulls" consider vertically burying some 4-foot lengths of 6" diameter steel pipes flush at several points along the perimeter of the pad and having caps on them to keep sand and water out till needed. When needing them as an anchor point, remove the cap and insert a slightly smaller diameter 8-foot length of pipe (or I-beam) into the 6" pipe. The pipe or beam sticking up can then be used to anchor a come-along or even an electric winch. The recessed receiver pipes would be out of the way til needed. Love your channel and really admire the way you and the amazing Miss Kelly work as a TEAM. Thank You guys for many hours of instructive and highly entertaining videos. Many of us are living vicariously through your videos.

Hello from Norway! WOW, the way you two work together.... no yelling, no arguing, not even a smallest raise in anger level or vioce... Thats the way it should bee. Just love the way you two combine skills and effort to get the job done. A suggestion for you: Can you please quote the prices of parts you install if you can. Or at least quote the listing price, if you got some extra deals on parts and dont want to show "your" price. I'll bet there is a lot of bus owners out there curious about that. love your videos. PLEASE keep them comming. I especially love this kind of videos.

You and Mrs. Grease money make it look so easy Scott! we are living in a country now where that grease on your hands and arms aren't acceptable for a skill trade, but, that's where the money is! in that grease! I'm an Industrial mechanic/electrician with plenty of grease! I don't do diesels though. One of the biggest reasons I haven't bought a bus is because of diesel work..Your swaying me over though, thank you for showing what it's like and how much work is involved. I'm looking. those old buses are VERY INDUSTRIAL, I'm thinking that maybe the deep work (cylinders, sleeves, rods, may not need that much work) seems like most of the problems are rust, grime, things that are stuck, and adjustments. Keep up the great work...

Gotta say thanks for talking about those wipes so much. They're absolutely great. Swapping the transmission in my car currently, and nothing was getting the old, oil-soaked dirt and clutch dust sludge that was caked into the bell housing out. Had a bit of a brainwave and decided to try the wipes, and that finally did the trick to remove that slimy old gross mess. (And yes, I'm replacing every seal and gasket on the gearbox before I fill it back up and put it in my Annabelle, I wanna be completely sure it wasn't more than just a leaky rear main on the donor vehicle's engine.)

First of all what a fantastic job that you and Kelly have done, I like they way you investigate when you are doing any mechanical for the reason and the why and how things go wrong. I like that you put the fly wheel back to test for movement even though you were replacing parts, that is what I call dedication to you job and to the owner of the bus. Congratulations on your anniversary you have a fantastic assistant working with you giving you advice on some of the tasks that you both are doing. Love all your work Keith Calder Australia.

Scott: have you thought about building an off grid type shower by the pad? It would be a small wood structure sort of like an old out-house with a bucket on top and a shower head with valve connected to the bucket. That way you can shower off without messing up the bus shower when you're extra dirty. I painted my bucket black and after a day in the sun the water is just right for a nice shower before going to my home. My wife likes it as well. She always uses it when she's been working outside.

Kelly is like my wife, mine had a mechanic as a dad so when i met her she knew more about that stuff than i did, she just refuses to ever let me have a project sitting in the yard LOL. The good part is she is like Kelly and will give a hand if required and isnt worried if she gets her hands dirty. Any wife that understands that vehicles need to have money spent on them regularly is a keeper as it means when she wants to go somewhere you dont have to say cant cause the car/truck/bus is broken and then have her tell you its your fault because you didnt have maintenance done LOL

It's possible that those flywheel bolts may have been used over several times not to mention possibly of being overtightened also. They may be stretched and probably getting ready to fail. It would be interesting to micrometer the length of the old bolts and compare them to new ones. There was a video you did a while ago where a couple of bolts broke in a crankshaft. This old girl luckily didn't get that far.

Those Go jo wipes would be great for preventing poison ivy. The urushiol is like transparent grease - very hard to wipe off without friction from a towel. You usually have an hour or two after exposure to get it off your skin, and you've got to use a towel or you just move it around... Hmm. Gonna try them.

My guess is the clutch had been replaced once, they removed the flywheel to machine the surface, and when they installed it they didn't make sure the mating surface of the flywheel and crank was perfectly clean and smooth, I've seen it before where the smallest bit of corrosion can actually make the flywheel loosen over time.
