The rogue Meg and Han vlogs are probably some of my favorites. So happy to see Wilma’s sweet face doing a bit of schooling to boost her confidence. Happy seeing you guys having a good time, all hiccups with the wardrobe and loose pony aside that is. 😅😂

Bugger the internet critics, she’s your horse and you know her best. Do what you need to do. Every horse is different and develops at a different rate. All this “she’s such and such and age and should be doing such and such by now” is bollocks.

Honestly so true, I have a 10 year old OTTB who is green as grass and has done less than most 6 year olds hahah
@JorlayRaven7 ай бұрын
@@beaumarks2228same, only done basics at this point, however the learning curve is very steep with her now because she’s progressing so fast since she’s done growing physically and mentally I believe doing it slowly and not rushing is gonna make our horses last way longer than the 6 year olds competing every weekend

That little truck is proving to be invaluable. You can just pop your horse on and drive off. Edited to add that Regal Realm who was full Thoroughbred, started his career as a slow horse and later became Lucinda Green's World Champion horse.

Left your boots, lost your horse and had to call out the cavalry for rescue. Yep, Hobbit is going to revoke your adulting license. Three points added to your record and you're going to have to attend remedial teenager classes to clear your record. You can't go anywhere without permission and you have to be in by 11pm on weekends. I'll let Hobbs do the telling off.

After watching your helmet-cam footage of you guys entering the water, I can see why some horses freak out. It looked quite scary from that angle. Wilma did really well, though, with the water and other jumps. I was a bit worried when she got loose. I'm glad Han caught her quickly. ❤

In young horses confidence is mutual and the more you allow her forward to make some mistakes the quicker she learns. Her gallop will come when she understands that she’s allowed to open up that gait, having mostly been very collected. If she learns to rely too much on you supporting and containing her she will have to unlearn it to gallop and jump freely. But hey she got the ultimate freedom in the end ! This is a sweet little mare.

You are SO lucky that Wilma is such a good girl, and didn’t take off very far, and then allowed herself to be caught. MY horse likes to either spook and jump sideways and/or spin and bolt when he sees a different colored patch of grass while riding in the field. If he manages to get me off his back, he finds it HILARIOUS to gallop away from me as fast and as far away as he can get! If he had gotten loose out there, I wouldn’t have seen him again until he finally decided he wanted a proper meal. By then, he would probably have ended up in the next county! 😂 He’s popped me off in the arena before, once when the arena gate was open, so he galloped off out of the arena. Luckily, he headed back toward the barn and his stall to look for food. Another time he flung me off after a jump, but the arena gate was closed, so he was forced to do his victory gallop for a couple of laps inside the arena…🙄 I DO always get back on him when he decks me, and make him do MORE work so he doesn’t think that dumping me equals “get out of work”. I think only once I just lunged him instead of actually getting back on to ride. But I definitely got back and rode for another ten minutes of doing some smaller jumps after he flung me off post-jump. I ended up unknowingly riding and jumping with a couple of broken ribs and broken vertebrae. Of course the pain REALLY hit when the adrenaline subsided. I also learned NOT to tell the EMT’s or Emergency Room staff that I got back on to ride, bc then they assume I’m totally fine, and couldn’t possibly have any broken bones. HA! Joke was on THEM! But really was awful for me bc I didn’t get an IV or any pain meds until AFTER waiting 6 hours to have a CT scan. Which showed all of the fractures, which finally prompted them to listen to me about the amount of pain I was in! Anyway, I’m glad Wilma was so good schooling, and that she just got loose from her head collar! I was worried from the title that you might have taken a tumble! I’m glad I was wrong! You both looked GREAT❤

Sadly I had almost no chances to ride so as a horse-mad girl I read everything the local library system had (they had a lot back in the '70s), and I do know book learning is not real world experience. That said with reading and watching other folks' videos a slowly built solid base is better than pushing too hard. Looking forward to more...

I don’t think she is going to be slow at all. Once she decides how much fun cross country is she is going to rock and roll. I say do what feels good but know that you tend to be conservative and your heart is always thinking of your horse. That can’t be faulted! But Wilma is more than comfortable with the 80 and you won’t be over facing her at all. She’s green but well started, is brave and enjoys her work! Keep that in mind it’s only 10 centimeters and challenging her a bit might be what she needs to show her TB side! No matter I would watch if she jumped cross rails❤

Maybe it's because I've left a few too many braincells out cross-country, but I watched this whole video thinking Wilma could handle the next size up quite neatly! Whatever you decide Meg, we'll all be here supporting you. At the end of the day, she's your horse & you know her best. That being said - you might want to brush up on your halter skills before you turn more horses loose, lol!! Thanks for another great video!❤❤❤
