My mum went through it for years I remember listening to it and its awful living in fear and walking on egg shells. I applaud Mel for speaking out because the response to domestic abuse needs to change, the law courts and the police's attitude and how they treat victims is a major problem. The perpetrators still have more rights than those they abuse. It baffles me that if a child is being abused they can be removed from their parents yet DV abusers are given unsupervised access to their kids who they use as weapons against their ex partner. Mel's book is brilliant she is 100% honest about everything including her own mistakes and regrets. I hope she continues speaking out she is doing all victims of DV a service by showing the reality of it.

I wonder will Johnie Depp write a book about the abusive relationship he found him self in with Amber Heard and how the British judiciary as always did not believe it could happen to a man when the american courts and testimony proved she was totally coercive, abusing and a pathological liar but anyway you are right, I so glad people are finally speaking out about disgusting abusive parters because god knows you could tell Johnie had been through it too. He lost half a finger if I remember correctly when she fired a bottle at his head too right?

Sometimes being strong is a weakness. Because you see a red flag and you go "but I'm tough", and you get hurt once and you go "but he's hurting more than I am" and suddenly you're neck deep telling yourself you should be able to stomach this because you're tough and he's just going through a rough time.

I can't stand the way the interviewers are asking her to be specific in reliving each incident "the curtains- the table where the kids couldn't eat". She's already written the book - must be awful for her to continue repeating herself....ugh!

TRAUMA BONDING .....What is a trauma bond? A trauma bond is a connection between an abusive person and the individual they abuse. It is reflective of an attachment created by repeating physical or emotional trauma with positive reinforcement. It can be hard to spot and even harder to break free from.13 Dec 2021

I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through and I hope you find some support. It's so disgusting how often power is abused, and how the person in serious distress is continually dismissed because of that power difference. We're are so messed up as a society. I'm sorry.
