The problem with lootcrate, and scott touches on this, is that the term "geek stuff" is so broad, as it applies to anything that has a Fandom. So pretty much no one is going to be invested in enough fandoms to really get anything out of it, especially on a longterm basis. And even if you are a fan of the franchise, even if you like collectibles, you may have zero desire for the product or dislike the design they went for on the clothing items.

Well, I fell in an ADHD trap, and spent like an hour frantically googling trying to figure out what anime that bottle opener was from (I haven't actually finished the video yet, so if they mention it at some point I'm gonna feel like a real goober). I never found a good picture of the actual product, but I was able to track down the picture on the label. It's from a manga called Isekai Izakaya (basically, Another World Bar). What I also found was several identical-looking unbranded products, which were, in fact, magnets and not keychains.

It's a pretty good series. It's just about a bar that got isekai'ed to a place that is similar to Germany, and it just goes from there. There's a colorful cast of characters and there is an actual story that progresses rather than it just being a slice of life anime. It's often compared to another series called "Restaurant to another world". But that series is mostly focused on smaller stories about its customers rather than overall story about the restaurant.

This was like me and my friends buying mystery sweet boxes when we were teenagers. We would sometimes go into Dublin City, and there was a really nice sweet shop in temple bar called auntie nellies. They did like these little bags with random retro and pick and mix sweets for I think 3 euro each, which really wasn’t bad for how much was in them. I got LootCrate like twice, and realized how much junk is in each box. Also, some of the figures and such came broken, so I tapped out to t-shirt only crate. I got that for a while, and just got too lazy to cancel. Yes they were shirts, but they never really excited me. I'm not into Silence of the Lambs, but I really love insects and that's a rad Death's Head Hawkmoth. smh maybe Loot Crate would be doing better if they did a Loot Ento box Edit: Okay I just came up with a bunch of potential Loot Crate categories -Loot Shoujo: Eric is right, anime is not itself a genre and anime fans are a pretty broad category containing fans of many different anime genres. I think that having a specific box for stuff like shoujo and shonen could be a good idea. Plus it could be an anime and manga thing, not just anime -Loot Shonen: see above. Beyond just those genres though, having sci-fi, fantasy, sports, romance, etc. anime boxes would also be a smart choice -Loot Anthro: Furry stuff. Admittedly there aren't that many major IPs and brands that Loot Crate could distribute merch from (Except for maybe My Little Pony and Sonic? I'd say those are more furry-adjacent than anything else, though) because most furry media tends to be independent -Loot Ento: Bugs! -Loot Paleo: Prehistoric life. This is also a pretty big area of interest, as some paleonerds are just into dinosaurs and some people just like anything prehistoric, some people prefer their depictions to be as accurate as possible and some people just think the Jurrasic Park dinos are neat. Overall though, I think a lot of them just like media featuring prehistoric life, kinda like how I just like seeing insect-themed cartoons and video games pop up -Loot Toon? I think that a box with merch for western animation is a good idea, but I'm not sure if it should be classic cartoon stuff like Hannah Barbara and Warner Bros. or for people who are into modern story-based shows like Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and the Owl House. There are lots of people who like both, but there are generally two different audiences there and it gets more complicated once you factor in adult-oriented stuff like South Park, Bojack Horseman, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss- and like, those are all very different shows, really the only thing that unites them is being cartoons for adults! It's the anime problem all over again, but here in the West, animation is perceived in a specific way (just a frivolous kid's thing) whereas it had room to be seen as more in Japan... yeah I dunno -Loot Heroes: Marvel and DC superhero comics. Maybe other superhero media like Invincible too -Loot Wrestling? Pro wrestling, and inde wrestling and I've learned that's also a thing. There's a surprisingly huge nerdy fanbase for it -Loot Arcade: Retro gaming gear. This one's for you Scott -Loot Slasher: Because Loot Fright seemed to have a focus on 80's slashers specifically (barring some classic horror like the Universal movie monsters) Brand specific ideas: -Loot Nintendo -Loot Disney -Loot Star Wars -Loot Sanrio -Loot Pony (My Little Pony)

I think these definitely have a place. My grandfather got me a few when I was younger and it was a nice gesture. It was much better than getting a game that they didn't know if I'd like.
