Another cutscene I’ve noticed is when you going to Glitzville it’ll show everyone with Mario in the blimp. This is a nice touch because I like all my buddies be involved. Showing more inclusion of everyone and not just who you got selected makes it feel like everyone is together with Mario on an adventure to help save the day. @@clouds-rb9xt I was initially bummed by it (I notice framerate differences immediately), especially having played the original. In the end, it wasn't that big of a deal, though I still hope they can get it to run 60 FPS on Switch 2. What bothered me infinitely more is the fact that every action and animation is now *slower* and has noticeable input lag in the remake. I reeeally wish they would fix this in an update, it affects the whole game… The new partner ring is ridiculous because it's actually SLOWER to change partners through it than it was in the original game through the normal start menu! Some actions are also weirdly synchronous even though they were asynchronous in the original. The partner switch is one example: in the original, Mario can actually start walking again before the partner has fully switched. In the remake, he must wait for the switch animation to end. Another thing is the audience actions in battles: in the original, the player retains full menu control even when an audience member is preparing to throw something. In the remake, the game annoyingly blocks you for a couple of seconds of any action other than the X button (which interferes with the audience member).
@HeatherCameron-p5f4 ай бұрын
@clouds-rb9xt Absolutely agreed, 60 fps is not required whatsoever unless you play a fast paced shooter or something along those lines. People complaining so much about no 60 fps and their dislike of stylized graphics are the reason why so many games now are ultra realistic-high definition slop.

I am glad TTYD Remake exists as TTYD is now more accessible to a wider audience. Unfortunately there are some changes I'm not necessarily a fan of, one of the worst changes being the nerf of Koops' first strike hitbox. In the original, Koops' shell can first strike an enemy whenever active, of course yoy shoot the shell and this allows you to first strike enemies from a distance, which is nice, but the beauty comes from holding the shell in place to set up traps, you can bait the enemy to walk into the shell, which wasn't hard to do because the enemies were kind dumb, but not only that, and releasing the shell led to just wacky first strike scenarios, Koops was a first striking powerhouse, the insanely sick and powerful first strikes you can do in the OG version made Koops a versatile and underrated first striking option, whenever I play TTYD, I have Yoshi kid (who I name Bobbert) out to go fast, and when there's enemies, I bring out Koops. Unfortunately this remake removes the first strike hitbox when you hold the shell and release, the first strike hitbox is only active when you shoot the shell, when you hold and release, the first strike hitbox disappears, which is an awful change, awhile Koops is still amazing for first striking due to the range of his shell, Koops' first striking ability is a shell of it's former self. Unfriendly because of this nerf and some other changes like the slower text boxes, I cannot say the Switch version is the definitive version, if Nintendo patches TTYD Remake, they have to restore Koops' first strike hitbox to what it once was, please Nintendo I beg you.

Minus the carefully watching your footing but as neither version gave that off lol. If anything the remix and extension crank up the exhilarating feeling while slowing down a bit to the end to highlight the situation you're in. This is the end of the line, fighting a bunch of mischievous smoke creatures which very much fits for the Smorgs. Slowing down a bit doesn't equal "reveling in itself" it isn't doing that.

Where are you getting "huge city of excitement" like lmao it sounds nothing like that. Speak for yourself, the original track just made it sound weird and a bit mysterious. It never really sounded like a bustling sea port town. The remix on the other hand very much does, really fitting the theme of Rogueport while giving a hint of weirdness. A bustling town full of ruffians and thugs, while giving that vibe of adventure and "you've reached an uncharted area to explore" that the original track didn't have. The mysterious vibes are kept for the underground which is way more fitting as the mysteries are all down there, not above in the main town.

Not really a "change," since you could never see Madame Flurrie from behind before, but there's a mistake where you can't see her necklace from the back. It's possible they were looking at a plushie, or 3D model of me, and saw that I only have beads in front; but that's because my shell blocks the ones in back. And Nintendo, loves to capitalize on optimization every chance it gets, so they simply don't model them... same thing with my teeth, they don't stick out, so they don't get modeled. But we do see her necklace as a separate item in this game, and it is demonstrably 360° of full beads. So it's kinda jarring to not see it go all the way around her neck in this game, even though she's completely nekkid, and there's nothing to hide it in back.

It is not so much better at all. Please explain how it is and you aren't just blinded by nostalgia. What, she randomly mentions that Mario got robbed as if she saw him take his coins with how fast he zipped by? How can she tell, how did she just peer into his pockets? I feel like for a lot of these we traded smooth and simple animations for vacuous interactivity and excessive expression. While also trying to still reinforce the whole 'paper' trope. Like they REALLY can't help themselves. Most of these things I would hardly call an improvement in any regard. It's a shame they spent so much needless effort when they really could have settled on getting 60FPS and some proper face-lifting. What we have now is no less an echo of TTYD, through the lens of OK and modern PM.
@kevinsmith1635 ай бұрын

@chrange97145 ай бұрын
"Excessive expression" when the original game barely had any expressions for these characters or the world. And "vacuous interactivity?" The original's interactivity pales in comparison to the remake. You are an average toxic TTYD worshiper, you'd only be pleased if they just ported the exact GameCube version to Switch and changed nothing. Guess what, it's called PAPER Mario. What's Mario? He's paper. The world he lives in? Paper. Items and stuff around the world? Also themed around paper. This was in the original game and has evolved since, it's a natural evolution of the series. It's not about them not being able to help themselves, it's about them taking the series forward instead of backwards. Everything in the remake is a big improvement from the original, some waaaay more than others. They didn't spend needless effort on a single thing, what we have now is the definitive version of TTYD. You and those like you did not deserve this remake.

"Most of these things I would hardly call an improvement in any regard" the whole point of this video was to cover small and insignificant details. the remake makes huge, indisputably positive changes to virtually every aspect of the original game, from the gameplay to the presentation to the quality of life features. these changes were not covered in this video because it's not what the video was focusing on.
