@m0n0deferia Жыл бұрын
@@theshadowking3198 Oh, I certainly see the creativty and effort in the Pokémon games as well. But they are clearly very far from the polish that Nintendo gives to Zelda and Mario.
@aksis2133 Жыл бұрын
@@theshadowking3198Frankly that’s more a time issue than a creativity or effort issue. Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild were both given nearly 6 full years for their development. By comparison, Pokemon has been forced to put out games nearly once every year or two in order to line up with the launch of new cards, anime, plushies, etc. On top of that, Zelda typically gets multiple studios working on a given title while the Pokemon games are almost entirely built internally at Gamefreak. It’s just not conducive to having the quality of releases that Zelda gets.

For more information on durability when hitting random objects: The new system goes based on either dealing damage to a target, or generating a projectile(jump attack shockwaves are projectiles).
@AA-zt3bp Жыл бұрын
I think the durability when hitting objects in the last game also came from the fact that those items could be moved using Stasis. They wanted you to spend durability when moving those things with Stasis, whereas in TOTK hitting a rock is probably an accident.

0:39 The arm pose change while holding weapons and reading signs puzzles me. It almost seems like a mistake. Maybe it was because weapon fusions vary so much in TotK that it made more sense to keep the arms off to the side so they didn't clip Link or obscure the sign itself? And they just reused the animation for the torches since they knew what that pose would always look like while it was lit?
@maqaeda Жыл бұрын
I had the same thought, weapon fuses can get pretty large so perhaps it was for visibility, aesthetic, etc that they changed it.
@MrFoxInc Жыл бұрын
4:02 The likely reason is that these bubbles are not 3D objects but 2D planes with a 2D image of a bubble that always face the camera, giving the illusion that they're actual bubbles. They also seem to be half sunk into the liquid to make the illusion perfect. So if you rotate the camera so that it looks straight down at a 90° angle, that means that the 2D planes will also rotate in that angle... and "sink" juuust below the surface because of that. They probably fixed that in TotK by having the 2D planes angled a bit more so that when you look at them from a 90° angle, they're rotated only by 89° or something. (Edit: Although that wouldn't explain why the ripples don't show up either... they might be related to the visibility of the bubbles?) Anyway, great video as always, thank you! Still excited for these even after all this time! :)

Thanks! Btw, do you know how they managed to get rain drops seem to aktually be "3d" in bullet time instead of just being an overlay on the screen?

To me it looks more like the bubbles are actually 3D objects in TotK, which allows them to have that shiny Fresnel effect on the rim.

@@noidea5597 I'm assuming a particle effect, probably using 2D planes as well, and it blends in when the normal rain disappears during bullet time!

Have you noticed how the Watertemple in totk is upside-down? You can see Zonai shrine structure at the bottom and the elephant heads left and right to the entrance are reversed as well. Also, when Link received the Purah-Pad right at the start of the game it comes in a little box draped with a piece of cloth. This cloth looks like Mineru's scarf which is neat foreshadowing

If the weapon can cut the tree, does it decrease the durability.
@psuedonym9999 Жыл бұрын
Yes. Easy way to test this is by fusing a stone (triangular & sharp, as opposed to the blunt and rounded rocks) to a tree branch. Since tree branches only have 4 durability by default, and unlike most weapons, only get 10 fuse durability instead of 25, you only have to chop 14 times to break it.

The camera doesn't *always* snap behind Link when mounting lynels and it's annoying. A lot of times I'll jump off at the end of a mount, pull out my bow for bullet time to get some easy headshots in, and have to take 1-3 seconds to manually turn the camera around to face the lynel because the camera was *in front of* the lynel while I was mounted. The camera seems to *sometimes* snap behind Link but other times it's fixed to where it was when you climbed on the lynel's back like it was in BotW, and I have no clue what causes it to behave differently in the same situation

Tears of the Kingdom did not fully fix the durability problem. Accidentally hitting a Frox's body when trying to break its ore deposits still costs durability, so it is likely that defeating a Frox breaks your weapons twice as fast as other enemies. Even with camera improvements for Lynels, a lot of short event cutscenes still move the camera in a rigid way instead of using cubic splines to smooth out the camera transitions.
@Glockenspheal Жыл бұрын
I think this is due to the weapon still doing gamage to the Frox.
