Where are the cold air intakes compared to the older ones that are in the front?

I have used a Liberty stove for 20 plus years now, I went today to check out the new design for 2020. I was taking back at the much smaller diameter hinge pin over my present Liberty model. To me it seemed way under designed! What happens to this hinge pin and bracket when it starts to wear from heavy stove use?
