It’s such a betrayal if true. These young men were teens who trusted Afrika, and who he took under his wing. To betray trust in such a cruel and heinous way is revolting. It is also a betrayal of his fans. Someone who created lots of great music and portrays himself as a role model and leader is really scummy. I hope all his victims heal and grow.

What's jacked up is for all of the "real street dudes" who supposedly know the truth about the Bam scandal, nobody stepped up to address this except in the KZbin era. So was it a thing where people didn't feel like they could go to the cops, that wasn't cool? But then you couldn't do anything else? What about Social Services? but so many people are caught up in the "don't snitch" dynamic, people want to maintain their street world status but be silent on violations in the community. On another note- SoulSonic Force were hip-hop, costumes were just part of the entertainment world at that time- all the funk bands, Parliament, etc., had those crazy looks going on. "Planet Rock" is hip hop. DJs were influenced by the electronic music at the time. Funk, disco, rock, etc. it was all part of the mix.

*Afrika Bambaataa can't be gay. He looks 100% straight*. People kill me when they give that reasoning. People still think that you have to look a certain way in order to be gay. I've said this before, but that's a tricky lifestyle/world. Truth is, a lot of people are bi-sexual. Not just men, women too. I have a gay friend and the stuff he's told me about the mindset, etcetera, will blow you away. *Everybody does it* is a common phrase. Does it count if you've tried it when you were little and never again? Does it count if you only do it a few times? Are you still straight if you do it every once in a blue moon? Everybody's definition varies. Traditionally, it's all gay, but not for the people who are in it. A lot of that stuff went on in the Death Row camp. Somebody told me that it was "all good" for *THEM* to do things with Danny Boy because he was only 17 so it didn't count. It's just ass. Now ain't that a fked up mindset? Afrika's obviously not the only one. And yeah, Afrika did that. Ain't nobody lyin' on him. "DJ Quail" is another one.....

Bam used to come out to poe park, saint james park and the triangle over by the old alexanders to pick up transvestites. You ask any of the puerto ricans from that area back then that knew of him or knew him directly and they will tell you that he was gay. I don't know if he targeted young boys specifically but I will say that back then, most of the gay guys that hung out in those spots were teens.
