as much as it sounds "politically incorrect" he make compellingly valid points and his logic chain makes total sense. and based on the amount of likes versus dislikes most people agree with him. unfortunately we are in a day and age when making sense is seen as "wrong" or "politically incorrect". Dress code? OR just what the majority is accustomed to. Dress code = rules and if there were rules then hip hop wouldn't change as much as it has over the years. Dress, flow, explicit lyrics, etc. If you hate people based on their sexuality that's your personal -obsession- problem. Pretty funny how upset people get over this. *There's nothing you can do about it* lol

I get what he's saying I grew up around hip hop. But things have changed you can't be all angry about to have a heart attack about what the next man is doing. As long as your kids dress the way you want them to dress. Keep it moving. That was a low blow bringing his Mother into it.

Lord Jamar's rants sound salty because he not on top anymore. We don't live in the world of the 90s...we don't live in this strict world where men follow a fashion code. I will admit its bizarre what he is wearing but again different times speak for different sets of values and clothing! To simply define men to a fucking conforming dress code only speaks to what Lord Jamar can attest to...not what current hip-hop artists are trending! Lord Jamar sounds real whiny in this rant. Shut up and do something to move hip-hop! Yeah, where are your mentees sir? I just don't like the homophobic comments about how a current artists is dressed! Get over it!

Lord Jamar is old school. He is hip hop all day. He is NYC all day. His opinion is his opinion. A lot of folks that came up in rap during his day and in NYC agree with him. There's definitely a generational disconnect in hip hop. In another 20 years who knows what the trends will be? We may See Lil Wayne complaining about the current times in music on Vlad tv. The art form is changing with each passing day. The older generation lays claim to hip hop because they were in it from its inception and want to preserve the art in the way that it was when they were coming up. Unforunately, for things to be succsessful on the scale that hip hop has blown up, things must/will evolve.

@veronicajade2011 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Gibson What's wrong with "he/she's"? Or rather, people more RESPECTFULLY known as feminine men? This is what I don't understand about men who are so threatened by gay men, feminine men, or feminine gay men: if you're secure in your manhood and masculinity, why should what another man is doing bother you? I'm a woman who is secure in my womanhood and femininity and feminine men are not a THREAT to me. Why can't you men get the fuck over it? Seriously.
@parkay30111 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Gibson I'm not sure i understand what you're talking about man.

veronicajade20 Well it makes people feel more superior to put other people down. Especially if they're going up against someone that they percieve as weak or nonconfrontational. Just like when you see dudes rolling in a group, they get extra loud, extra belligerent, extra everything. When by themselves, much different story. There's power in numbers and power in preying on the weak. So sad.

That's so fucking true man Lord Jamar. The way your dress is your code. To change people minds about certain things is to use the artist they like to listen to or they like to be like. Nowadays you have duds with dresses duds kissing another duds from the lips. Now all of that is to change your mind to make you believe dressing like woman is ok and to be a gay is ok in hip hop.

I'm somewhere in the middle on this subject. Yes, people should be able to wear what that want, BUT, like he said, there are stigmas that come along with certain styles of clothing. If you feel comfortable enough to wear some wild [expletive] and deal with the criticism that comes with it... more power to you.

He makes an awesome point. I agree with his overall idea. America is the land of the free (relative term) but there should be moral boundaries that guide us. People can't just be out here doin' whatever. It's the children who are influenced by hip-hop that he's speaking to, not us adults who were influenced by a conscious brand of hip-hop and have grown into people who can decipher what's right and not right. Big up Jamar. Somebody need to say something.

And to add to your point from a different angle - I think that is why the game, artists and fanbases are aimless today because it seems that many of them don't educate themselves in this craft. They don't allow the pioneers to influence them. Conversely look at an artist like Janelle Monae she epitomizes an artist that has studied the greats and is influenced by the greats. Today everybody mimics who is hot NOW.
