Lord L6 (LP1822) Safety Razor: Best Cheap Razor For A Beginner Wet Shaver? Extreme Budget Shave!

The Lord L6 or LP1822 has been around since approximately 2011 & is very inexpensive. Could this Safety Razor be the best cheapest razor for a new beginner wet shaver who does't want to spend much to get started? Lets take a closer look & find out! Great review! The Lord L6 is a beast of a razor and probably the best price/ performance ratio on a DE you can get! It even outperformes more expensive DE razors like the King C Gillette or Wilkinson Classic. I initially bought it for 6€ as a backup and it ended up replaceing my more expensive Wilkinson Classic (gifted it to a friend) becoming my main razor to this day. It may feel a bit cheap to the touch because of its light weight but don't be fooled, that thing is a beast! Definitely a no brainer recommendation.

I just compared the King C. Gillette, Muhle and an L6 heads and the L6 has less blade exposure. It is less aggressive, however, the blade alignment is perfect. There are Chinese razors that cost over $20 with terrible blade alignment. The thing that surprised me the most was that one free Platinum coated Lord/Shark blade. I can't tell the difference between this blade and other, more expensive coated blades.

I can say it is better than an Edwin Jagger which costs 4 or 5 times more. Very beginner friendly.

The L6 is the best shaver in my arsenal! I've had mine for about 5 years, and it has never failed to give a close, comfortable shave. I have a Fatboy, Post War Tech, Super Speeds etc., and the only DE I have that comes close is my King C. Gillette.

Same here. I have like 4 shavers, edwin,fatboy, feather popular but lord l6, I love the long handle, and the lightness of it, its so easy to use light force, or more force. I keep nicking myself with short handle razors, i guess my fingers are too long LOL. Anyone know a razor rather that's similar and has a long handle, but mild. I think it's by far the best razor under 20. u can get it for under 10 dollars here

It's one of my Fav razors out of the 25 I own. IMO the Lord family of blades / Egypt , are the best . I sold my Merker 34HD and Muhle 89 since they were collecting dust. Also, I can't wait to go home to Horse country in North Florida Brian , been in stuck in NJ to long. I Miss the friendly people , low stress and weather down there. I have been occasionally using the Dollar Tree safety razor. I don’t shave frequently. it’s been good for me lately. Will be considering the Lord as an upgrade at some point.

great shave. i have a lord 6 but mine has a shorter handle - 90mm long. really smooth shave, its not fussy about what blade you use too. definitely a hidden gem.

I have this razor but in a gold tone. I'm pretty sure mine is even older than 2011. I think it does a good job, but remember that it was pretty mild. I believe that my perception was based on its light weight as my usual razor was a Merkur barber pole, which is somewhat heavy. I let the weight of the razor do the shaving so the lighter weight of the Lord probably felt milder. Good value, especially for a beginning razor. I think 2 or 3-piece razors are good choices when buying very cheap razors as I have had the butterfly mechanism on bargain razors fail.

That’s interesting, never knew they made a gold version of the L6. It’s definitely a mild razor but perfect to use for everyday shaves & especially for beginners getting into safety razor shaving. There is something about that aluminum handle & the heavier head in that it delivers a decent shave. Having a Merkur style head makes the razor also easier to use. I actually think this razor benefits from the longer handle! You can always try to swap the handle for another shorter one. I tried it with an Edwin Jagger Handle & it worked pretty decent! Have a great week👍

Sounds like we bought our Lord razors about the same time. The handle on mine got stripped even with infrequent use, but I kept the head and still get excellent mild shaves from it. I used it just today, in fact.

I can see where the handle would get stripped from the top cap. It seems like the handle hole where it screws into the top cap is too shallow to grab all the threads from the top cap. Mine still screws in OK. I think Lord improved on this flaw. Thanks for Watching & Stay Safe!

I would choose the Lord L6. The Lord seems to deliver a better, smoother shave than the Ri Mei. I feel it’s better for a beginner to start off with using because it’s fairly cheap & forgiving.

A couple of years ago this razor was readily available in Russia for less than $1.5. But now I had to buy it on Ebay for $8, could not find it anywhere offline

The combination of the L6, the Lord blade and my skin doesn't work together. I testet my technic and the soaps with other razors and blades and got smooth shaves. Whoever buys cheap buys twice, I thougt :-) This razor is not for me. I'm sure, for men with a hard beard and a careful start it works. It is quite well made.

Maybe try a different blade in the L6 & see what happens. Sometimes changing for a different blade greatly changes the way a razor shaves! I get great shaves using a Feather or a Gillette Nacet Blade in the L6. Thanks for Stopping By & Watching! Have a great weekend 👍😎

At this weekend, thanks for the wishes, I have time to let heal the wounds.:) - Another cheap razor I got is the 'Roman Empire Shaving Caesar'. It worked better, has a little blade gap, and it is a Merkur-style razor. Ciao!

@@ahmedhesham8980 Gillette Nacet is better in sharpness & smoothness compared to the Lord Blades. Lord Platinums are great blades which are one of my favorites but not in my top 5 while Nacets are easily in the top 5 favorite blades I love using.
