why does no one expect metal from Germany? Germany is the Coutry of Wacken and Summerbreeze (and so many other mtal festivals), has one of the biggest metal communitys in the world and is home of some of the biggest names in metal...ok, the norther europe countries also have big communitys and bands...but Germany is one of the big players in metal... LOTL is a genius band and blood and glitter is a wonderful song...best of the esc candidates so far...it is short, because it has to follow the esc rules, and for this has not all of the potential like other songs from LOTL, but is very good for ESC niveau

I think it is because media is very hard supressing that scene and kind of ignores it. It is really annoying, because i also see germany as one big player in the Rock and Metal scene, and there are a lot of people all over the world that found that rabbithole and really enjoy it. But in mainstream only Rammstein really is recognized and because of this many people think of any band as "Rammstein"-Copycat or something. Im really happy that we finally broke the NDR-0-Point streak with an extraordinary act, and more that this act is a metal act. Finally that scene will get some recognition :)

@@Paradize. and the people who only know Rammstein have the close loop Rammstein-Lindemann-Nazis-thinking and don't know about all that other fancy stuff in german metal culture (and even if I don't like some of lindemanns past and what he is saying...most Rammstein songs are not political and no Nazi-stuff...and most of the metal genre is not political at all or (like LOTL) more on the left side...but mainstream always has the Metal-Skinhead-Nazi conclusion, which is wrong at all... and all the other metal-genres are not even mentioned...I love the folk/medieval-metal genre which has a gigantic base in Germany (ever heard a metal-bagpipe-song?) And for all those who think metal is shouting a few words and no textwork at all...nonono...there are soooo deep textes in metal. I think by far the deepest in music I know...metal is feeling, metal opens ways to the heart...and for that metal has its storys to tell...storys you may never think of if you never realy listen to this music...they have words for every feeling, every moment in your life, every word you can not find by yourself you find in music...spoken or in melodies...

@@salomewild6612 But I've never seen Americans believe Rammstein were Nazis. The question was rather why the German press is so against the band. 🙋 In the German public, only Helene Fischer, Silbereisen and a few other suspects count. 😝

For the 2nd time. They have had 3 invitations to tour with Maiden but the first one was cancelled because of Covid. They were originally invited because Steve Harris (Bass player and the founder of Maiden) was and is a fan of the band. Lord of the Lost even released a cover of Children of the Damned and gave each member of Iron Maiden a set of their athletic merch. Just an FYI.

Actually the lyrics are not terrible, one just has to think to understand the meaning behind it. Also it seems like you are not into music production, everyone that I have seen reacting to this that was into music production, said that it was really really good. Btw the singer is a producer himself and I would think he knows what he's doing as he's really successful with it.

You really don't seem to get what works for ESC, for one thing, simple lyrics are perfect for Eurovision, because you only have three minutes to catch the audience's attention. If the lyrics get too overly complicated, people lose interest. Instead this song has a strong hook that gets stuck in your head. Which is necessary considering it has to stand out amidst over twenty other songs.

Nothing against them as a band, but in my humble opinion those lyrics scream Tumblr circa 2012. Just my 2 cents, though! That's why I always say my videos are merely an outsider's perspective; they're meant to be an honest first impression rather than reflecting how the Eurovision fandom may or may not feel about the song/performance.

@@juan.espejo The lyrics were simple but effective. I gave this song a 10 after the first listen when I watched the official music video. The whole album is great though. There is also a great instrumental at the end of this song in the video. I wish they included that but it is my understanding that a Eurovision song can only be 3 minutes? This is my first time watching the contest and it is because of this band.
@juan.espejo
@juan.espejo Жыл бұрын
@@NR-xd1vw yes, the rules state that the songs cannot be any longer than 3 minutes, so often musicians have to make artistic compromises that really hurt the original song. If you want a prime example of that, I suggest you look at Albania's 2022 performance at the national selection versus the Eurovision version.

@@juan.espejo So how do the finals in Liverpool work. I read that 34% is public televoting, 33% is demoscopic jury voting and 33% is press jury voting. What is the difference between demoscopic and press jury? And does this mean the public only gets 34 percent of the vote and the other 66 percent goes to judges??

Let's see what happens, how many metalheads, Who never saw Eurovision before, can see and vote this year just like me? Chris vocals are not average, thats for sure. This spanish first time vote in Eurovision is for Germany. I send my like, by the way, thanks for your honesty 😊

Devil's advocate here: fame outside of Eurovision doesn't necessarily translate into a good result. Last year, The Rasmus represented Finland and despite being 2000's icons they ended up in 21st place because their song wasn't (arguably) strong.

They always refer to it as 80s music. It was a style of music that originated in the 80s. But I dont recall the 80s synth pop having death metal vocals in it which is present if you listen to the full album.

Hay :) I am also a fan of LOTL since a few years I think - and I also think that everything you said is right - it's too simple, the lyrics are repetitive and not very strong but maybe the chorus is catchy :) they have WAY better songs than this one :) I am not very interested in the ESC but they (the band) could have chosen a better song :D Greetings from Germany :)

I don't agree with your opinion and trust me the last year's I did not like any song from Germany and I was always sure we would have bad result. Not so this year. Maybe Germany will not win, but I'm sure we will not end on the bottom of the right side. As a German and a Rockfan I did not know LotL before their application for the ESC. (What a shame,🙈). Now I watched some interviews and listen to their music and I'm impressed. They are smart and nice guy's and they know what they are doing. I think they will represent Germany very well. After the big show in Liverpool we know more.☺

well, the song is a little bit generic (as a lot of ESC-Songs) but compare to the last years where Germany send only crap to the ESC at least this time we compete with a real song. Maybe not a enough to win, but 0 points I did not expect either.

That's a good point. I follow several countries' national selections and over the last few years I've seen a peak in 80's-inspired songs. They never win, but they usually do quite well (for instance, Lithuania's runner-up song this year sounded exactly like Yazoo), so that means there's a big market out there for them.

I don't like this genre. LOTL have changed my mind, listen to their other songs, amazing performers. The winners version after this is much better. They will be superb in Liverpool. 12 points from UK to Germany this year. Repetition so people remember it, learn it. You wait and see.
