I think Greta was on to something when she asked about the Ring having a possible effect on Frodo's strong desire to travel away from the Shire.😁👍 That makes a lot of sense to me. If the Ring can sense that it is far from Sauron, why wouldn't it use what powers it had to make the Ring Bearer move closer to Sauron, if it could? And the Bearer would not realize that it was the Ring that made him feel that way.

One hundredweight is one hundred and twelve pounds. Eight stone, a stone being 14 pounds.

Something I've wondered about, no answer to be found, just conjuncture. In the 17 years between Bilbo leaving and Frodo meeting him in Rivendell why did no one tell Frodo how he has doing? Gandalf stopped by a few times. Frodo may have visited with elves. Dwarves used the East Road. Surely some of these knew he went to the Lonely Mountain and then back to Rivendell. Yet no one thought to mention it? I don't think there is an answer, just makes me wonder.

That's a great question! I suppose all we can do is conjecture - perhaps Frodo simply wanted to leave him in peace? Bilbo's leaving Frodo completely while he was still alive does seem like a rather odd move...
