Finally! Someone who doesn’t make me feel like a weirdo for crying at theodens speech. It gets me every time despite seeing this movie AT LEAST 20 times now

I was 13 or 14 year old kiwi boy when I saw this in the theater collectively with everyone else back in 2003/4. How you're reacting is 1000% legit how every single person in the theatre reacted. I vividly recall everyones faces were wet from rubbing tears away, the light from the screen was reflecting off of it, myself included. I need to pee sooo bad but didn't leave because I didn't want to miss a single second lol This trilogy also changed NZ's life, put us on the map, most people didn't even know we existed. In my books Peter Jackson and all the people who helped make this trilogy is a hero.

Bro I thought I was the only one crying during Theodens speech in the charge of the Rohirrim 😭😂
@exoterric7 күн бұрын
"and the sun rises!" God that metaphor! You are the hope keeping the world's ending at bay. You are the light itself in a world growing dark. First time I watched the tears didn't start til Theodins speech, but every time after, it starts when the horns first blow. Every gotdang time

"Go now and die in what way seems best to you." is an amazing line. I hope to use it on someone someday.

Most people don’t realize it but eomer had Mary with him to the ride to the black gate … the director did that as a symbol of his respect for Mary after the battle of Palnor fields and regret that he told him he couldn’t fight for those he loved

Eowyn didn't die on the battle field... but she had some kinda Black Sickness from touching the Witch King. Merry had it too. Him stabbing the Witch King w the Elf blade he got from Galadriel was the only reason she was able to kill him. Plus her being a woman. The prophecy was "by no Man's hand could the WK be slain"... and just like all wishes and fortunes, the Devil's in the details 😈 also, Aragorn was able to heal them bc of "Healing Hands", something to do with his lineage and him being King - all the heavy details are in the books ❤

The ring actually was tempting Sam, but his “plain hobbit-sense” knew it was offering him a lie that, even if true, was more power than he deserved, let alone could handle.

I love seeing people fall in love with Tolkien’s story. Whenever I read the book, I start weeping when the horns of Rohan sound until the last words of the tale

Frodo never fully healed from his wounds, which means he could never stay happy in Middle-Earth. He, Gandalf, Bilbo, and the rest are going to the undying lands (Elf heaven essentially), where mortal beings usually aren't allowed. An exception is made for Frodo and Bilbo because they were ring bearers. In the appendices we learn that Sam becomes mayor of the Shire and lives a long and happy life. After his wife dies, he also sails west to the undying lands because he was briefly a ring bearer. So Frodo and Sam do meet again. Merry and Pippin spend their days with Aragorn in Gondor, and when they die they are buried next to Aragorn's grave. Legolas and Gimli remain friends, and their friendship heals the rift between Dwarf and Elf. When they reach their end, they also sail to the undying lands together. It's a massive honor for Gimli, being a dwarf, and never a ring bearer. Once they leave, the fellowship is gone from Middle Earth forever.

Random bit of history. There was a resurgence of these books in the 60s/70s which is when my mother read them. I still have her annotated falling apart paper back books somewhere. At the time she saw graffiti on the NY subways that said "Frodo lives". Apparently there was a whole counterculture movement at the time and phrase was signifying hope during turbulent times. It's more than okay to be deeply emotionally impacted by this story. The movies do the story justice too i think. Anyway love the reactions of course and appreciate the re upload!

You are very patient. I’m glad you enjoyed the masterpiece that is the movie version of LOTR. You are a good reviewer. .

That Ring represents everything that can control our brains. It is very strong. Gandalf and Galadriel were right. Don’t even pick it up to look at it. It will enthrall. Even Sam could not be trusted to carry it.

"You bow to no one..." It's beyond a masterpiece when you don't want a four hour film to end...I cried at the docks the first time, I can't lie. "End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." I'm so glad we took this journey with you and I'm certain you're forever grateful too.

Sam did get affected by the Ring ( spoiler alert) but he was able to refute his fantasies of saving the world and becoming the greatest gardener. Fortunately, the innocent Hobbit in him overcame the temptation.
@telynns849012 күн бұрын
Yeah, all the ring could come up with to tempt Sam with was making the whole world a garden and after a moment Sam pretty much said to himself "Pffttt... that's really silly". If the ring had more time it would have maybe found a way to get to him, but it's quick attempt failed because Sam is so grounded with simple wants.

If one scene shows that no one could have done what Frodo did it was the one in the tower where Sam briefly had the ring. With how little time he had it we can see that it almost took him over even if that didn’t occupy much of his mind at the time

When Pippin found Merry on the battlefield, Merry actually said "Are you going to bury me?" It annoys the crap out of me that Peter Jackson felt a need to change that.
