It's a based take to say only evil monsters judge anyone by the color of their skin, but then the whole world's just a bunch of evil monsters

20:21 "Is that a slur I don't even know what that means bro!" Yeah it's a slur. N*p is a racial slur for Japanese people in particular, or if someone was being a bit loose with the definition, it might apply to east Asians in general. It comes from "Nippon" which is the actual name of Japan in Japanese. In this case I'd guess he was being a bit loose on the definition since he said previously that the store owner is Korean, not Japanese.

When I moved down south, I was surprised that people were still not over the Civil War and flying the Confederate flag. And yes, I heard some stuff that I would not repeat. And this from people who went to church three times a week, and Sunday School, and gave 10% of their income to the church. 😱

Dude, I'm 9 minutes in, and I have to say, you're aware. You're alive and intelligent. Simply just covering this film is doing much more than you realise. We sadly live in a world where rhetoric and lies govern the masses. Hearing your perspective and understanding is doing more than any protest or riot ever could. You're speaking from experience, and people need to hear that. It's sounds cliche, but this topic isn't black and white. We as humans need to communicate and discuss; otherwise, we run the risk of falling into these hateful groups. I understand how 'comforting' I may be for people who feel like they've been wronged, but we have to talk. Talk. Simple conversations can change the world.

When Edison announced that his 315th attempt to may a filament would result in a light bulb one of the reporters said something to the effect of "Were'nt you getting discouraged when you on the 314th attempt?" Of which Edison said "No the way I saw it, I discovered 314 ways NOT to make a lightbulb filament".

you need to watch some sci-fy classics like 2001, Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes, and Alien to get a better idea of the mid to late 1970's. Just to make this movie George Lucas had to create his own special effects company, Industrial Light and Magic. Also, the Wookies, because of their size and strength were hunted by the Empire and sold as manual labor slaves.

the landspeeder scene was exactly what was in the original, movies were much better with practical effects and even a lot of the special effects were practical scale models and miniature sets.

I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. I was 16 years old in 1980 when I saw Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes back. The Special effects were incredible. Everyone in the Movie Theatre was shocked and gasped when Darth Vader told Luke who he was. The scene when Princess Leia told Han she loved him and Han Solo said I know was improvised. In filming Take after Take Harrison Ford said I love You and it didn't work. One take he just says I know and says that is how Han Solo would respond. He got the Director and George Lucas to agree and keep the Line.

I was 13 years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. The special effects were ahead of its time. The Movie was originally called Star Wars and did not get renumbered episode IV until Episode V The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980. George Lucas did not know if he would be allowed to make more Star Wars Movies. He started with the First Movie of his Middle Trilogy. Thats why the original trilogy is IV V and VI and then the prequels are I II III

Racism goes both ways 💯. Not necessarily just between black and white but any human no matter race and religion can be racist for whatever reason. I'm more on the judge by the person's character. My profession I interact with a lot of different people, not all white people are racist. Not all black people want to be gangsters, not all middle eastern people have bombs and blow people up. It's not a race thing it's an individual and the perspective you want to give off about who you are as an individual. Movies like American history x and Boyz n the hood are what people need to watch. Propaganda, choices you make can and will affect you and the people around you in some way. The redemption arc and wanting to save his brother from becoming who he once was. Amazing and true story telling. Boyz n the hood same type of thing mom doing her best but sons out of control sent to live with dad, dad teaching his son this way of life isn't necessary and what you can do is bigger than the streets. But the old saying goes who you surround yourself around you'll likely become. At the end of the day what do we want? We want to go home and see our loved ones. We want to live. Why are we as humans out being dumb, saying and doing stupid shit to someone who has a different skin color. Why are we killing each other for no good reason. Why are gang members killing each other because they live on a different street. Keeping this up one day you're going to test the wrong person and end up with a life altering or life ending situation. People are more on edge now than ever because the world is more unsafe than ever.

15:22 Re: Bullies -- This movie teaches a valuable lesson about standing up to bullies. Goldie Wilson's saying is spot on: "If you let people walk all over you now...they'll be walking over you for the rest of your life." -- And he is absolutely right. -- Bullies don't stop being bullies when they reach adulthood, and they don't always becomes gangbangers and criminals. Many enter the workforce and have no qualms about telling other people what to do, and so they are the first to get promoted into supervisory. Whereas someone raised to fear confrontation is too afraid to tell others what to do, because they want everyone to like them and be nice to them. And this is why George is working for Biff at the beginning. This being said, one has to use restraint when standing up to a bully. Some might be carrying a gun or a knife. Others try to hide behind the assault laws and play the victim if they lose a fight. Others are abusive weasels that try to manipulate and gaslight their victims into becoming angry and hostile, just to flip the script and play the victim when they do. (get a body cam, they help in cases of 'your word against theirs')

This is one of the tightest plots ever put on film, every set-up has a pay-off - it's used for teaching. Subtle point: George is left-handed, that's the fist he uses to lay out Biff. Back in the 50s kids were forced to be right-handed, and that could cause confidence issues.

You’re wonderful. Your commentary is wonderful. Just subscribed and looking forward to you completing the trilogy. FUN FACT: the person writing this was a Universal Studios tour guide in his youth (17). Obsessed with this movie, he snuck onto the Hill Valley courthouse square set after dark using his id to get past security, waited until midnight, and tried to steal the clock face from the tower to hang on his bedroom wall. Long story that didn't quite work out as planned, for another time, but absolutely true. Needless to say, the next day on the morning tour, as the tram rounded the cafe, there was an empty hole.

The kid in the first 1955 scene is jumping on a novelty from that time called kangaroo shoes. The cart on wheels that Marty turns into a skateboard were actually built at home back then by many families. The base was roller skates attached to a board then they added a fruit cart etc. I know because I lived it.

Some fun bits of trivia here (no spoilers outside of this movie, don't worry!): Lucas' original plans did not have Vader as Luke's father. In the original script, Luke (whose last name was Starkiller) had a completely different father, and what Obi-Wan told him in Episode 4 was meant to be the truth. Merging that character with Vader was meant as a way to simplify the script and save money. Also the other infamous relationship in these movies was a change from the original script, but that's for Return of the Jedi, so I won't go into it. It really is a testament to Lucas and the people he worked with, particularly his wife (who did a wonderful job editing and deserves a lot of credit for the franchises success) and the Directors of Empire and Jedi that by pure coincidence, in many cases, what was cryptic or vague dialogue ended up working so well as foreshadowing with later reveals and plot twists.

A sequel was not intended, but after being rejected by every movie house in the business, it was such a hit, they had to do a sequel. The second one was roughly 1000 pages, so they decided to make it a trilogy. The second one is a bit chaotic for obvious reasons you will see. The 3rd one restores the purity of the first and made a great finish to the story.
