I just did static holds today for first time on some rings I bought, and yes they were humbling lol. I thought since I could do dips with 100 lbs on me I could easily just hold myself up but I was shaking for a while lol. I did 10 sets for 20 seconds each. It did get a little easier after a couple sets. Than last one I just held as long as I could. Then I switched up and did 100 pushups on them. Which took me forever lol. I did slow reps of 10 trying to control the shaking. These are so badass and glad I have another challenge to take on.

There’s a special trick. Called false grip. Once u understand this and do a lot of these strength moves u gradually understand that cross is easier than others cause u don’t need to tighten you core as much as others. This is why code of points indicate cross is easier than Maltese or planche. Cross it self is B while straight planche C and Maltese is D. I think all of these strength skill is going to be devalued in 2020 olympics. We’re hearing Maltese will be only worth C and straight planche a B. Well see.

It’s actually so frustrating that people don’t understand how impressive this is. A backflip would probably look cooler to the average joe 💀💀

Thank you KZbin for the suggestion. I used to watch Yuri videos all the time. He’s a pocket rocket with enormous strength and control. As a climber I really respect the gymnasts.

As a kid I did gymnastics. The rigs were my fav. I could do the seated iron cross. Wish life hadn't pulled me away from this great sport.

@@damiensanchez9920 How would the iron cross build side delts? Lateral delts pull upwards and towards the face and upper back like a high row before the clean or an archer pulling a bow.. iron cross is holding pretty much against the opposite direction. (side delts look popped out but it doesn't mean they are working)

I did gymnastics for 5 years in an elite training program in the 90's, I didn't tell any friends bcz it was considered a gay sport, at age 10 I had to quit. Turns out I excelled in every single sport as I grew older, really pissed people off. I would recommend gymnastics as the first and fundamental sport to help excell at other sports.
