I know this hymn as"Lord You Have Come to the Sea Shore".It is a Spanish/Mexican hymn that is found in Catholic hymnals in the US and.introduced here in Canada.

I wish it was Mexican, but it was written by Cesareo Garabain (Spain). And to be honest, with all respect , this hymn is even better in spanish.

I believe the composer is Spanish. Love hearing it in Spanish, especially the impromptu a cappella rendition I heard at a wake this week. Very moving, a song of the people.

Actually You are both right. It was composed by the Spanish Priest but it was a favorite of Pope John Paul ll My Priest was an Alter Server for John Paul ll for world Youth Day many years ago, He is from Poland and has been a Priest Here for 27 years in Our Parish alone, and this was a bit of trivia that We talked about. I was showing Our Church to a Young couple that was getting married and They had a Friend that had come to Minnesota to escape the flood conditions of IRMA. I was showing Them the Organ and started to play this Hymn, and too My great surprise, this young Man started to sing in Spanish, He did not miss a note and it was spectacular He had a beautiful tenor voice. It was a moving experience. We ALL had tears flowing when He was done ! God Bless all. Kevin
