I'm surprised the darts can flywheel through brass. How does this work? I always thought brass was for plunger air blasters.
@Flygonial8 жыл бұрын
Brass is used in flywheel applications as a barrel just to increase consistency in the dart guide, or make a canted flywheel cage work decently - without brass. At a certain velocity, a canted flywheel cage will just spin out 'whirlybird' or 'helicopter' darts with severely limited range. A brass guide helps control this.

that's cooler than lots of thing you make drac. no offense, you the man, but dang this is a nice blaster
@matthewgreenbaum75198 жыл бұрын
My guess as to how the blaster works without seeing the guts: Microcontroller checks select fire switchif on the first switch, then add value to variable, if second, adds a different value to the same variable and so on.When rev switch is pressed, the Microcontroller checks the value of the variable which determines however many times that he set it to turn for each mode.I assume that the way that he timed the motors to dispense exactly the right amount of darts was by timing the rotations of the motors, which explains why he chose brushless motors.This is a really cool mod, I hope that Eli posts some vids about it on his channel.

Hey, so I wanted to ask a quick question, and I couldn't think of any other place to ask it but on the channel of my favorite vampire Nerfer! I'm looking into a rewire and overvoltage of my Rapidstrike, and I was trying to figure out a battery to use with it. I have a 9.6v 1600mAh NiMH battery and was wondering if that's usable for such a project, but I've read elsewhere that such a battery could kill my stock motors pretty quickly. I'm running on a fairly low budget, so any suggestions are welcome! Thanks to whomever answers!

You could build a Rapidstrike with a triple 180 set-up and a live-center rewire for the point where the most blatant diminishing returns show up. Sure, it won't have any of the 'lil trinkets that make most brushless builds so special, but the response time will damn near be instant, and single shots will be perfectly possible. With enough practice, you can get used to single shots and bursts without panicking, learning to fire with trigger time as opposed to trigger pulls. Good enough? Definitely, arguably even more so. It'll never be as cool as the Echelon, but it can go toe to toe in most scenarios.

Why don't you use 35 round drums?
@Bobololo8 жыл бұрын
A lot of people don't use drums for 2 main reasons: 1. Some of them can't keep up with higher rates of fire. Sometimes they crap out, but others can handle it. 2. Space. For HvZ and wars, drums are space eaters! In the same space as 1 35 drum, you can fit 2-3x more darts with 18 round mags.

@Furiora8 жыл бұрын
While I don't deny this is a beauty, I don't really see the point in a select fire. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE burst guns, but if you take a modded Rapidstrike like the Nosferatu that works the pusher as fast as it does, wouldn't pulling the trigger like you would a semi-auto give you a burst anyway? To me, doing that seems more useful in like a HvZ style game so you don't blow through your ammo but don't have to fiddle with a switch to be able to hose darts if a huge hoard shows up around the next corner. Just my thoughts.
@Flygonial8 жыл бұрын
There is no real point in select fire with trigger discipline and good electrical work. Any reasoning stems from a lack of training. The Nosferatu has almost perfect cycle control and will easily get off single shots if you want it to. A Rapidstrike with similar internals (all 180s, live-center wiring) would be perfectly controllable once you get enough practice in. The best select fire module is your own muscle memory, as you said, no need to toggle between firing modes. Of course, this is a beautiful piece and an a incredible piece of foam-flinging engineering. But yeah, I agree that a more conventional build can do just fine. Oh, also, some comparisons on reddit between brushed motors and brushless show that most brushless motors don't really rev-up quicker than 180s in any relevant way (We're talking differences in margins like 0.05 seconds), some of the worse ones are actually slower. They might be better with metal flywheels but more research has to be done there.

@dickbuttstudios20038 жыл бұрын
what is the difference, the shape?
@koruleigh9788 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Holographic sights (Eotechs) have a bulkier body, real ones go for $400+ and appear similar to, well, a hippopotamus mouth shapewise. What that is, is a reflex sight. Very thin body, thin frame, and inexpensive by comparison. Not a whole lot protecting the lens structurally.
@ryand63128 жыл бұрын
dickbutt studios no a holographic sight is made with better materials and quality and holographic sights dont have something called paradox which red dot sights have if you are wondering paradox is when you look at the sight from a different angle and the crosshair is on target but you dont hit it cuz of the paradox with holographic sights that doesnt happen with red dots (i own the one in this video) you often have to put up the front back up iron sight to be able to hit targets easily because of the paradox thats why soldiers use holographic sights much easier to get the target correctly in your sights
