this album is the definition of masterpiece, it has SO MUCH replay value, i feel like Ella will never surpass this!! the production is just next level, the vocals are on point and the lyrics omg kinda transcendental. To be honest I think this album is just too personal to me lol

What for me makes this a masterpiece is that it’s not just majorly acclaimed in the pop scene, it’s been acclaimed overall by even people who have been VERY critical about her as well. It’s just undeniably amazing. The name completely encompasses what the album is. It’s massively melodramatic and over exaggerated but also completely real to how she felt. It’s crazy. You can’t have melodrama without solar power imo and you can’t have solar power without melodrama. It’s all a story now. Pure Heroine is angst in it’s true form from a teenager. Melodrama is a young adult finding themself in the world and experiencing things for the first time. Solar Power is a woman who has solidified her own personhood and even though things may not be set in stone she’s finally had some solace in who she is. My top 5: 1. Liability 2. Green Light 3. Sober 2/Melodrama 4. Supercut 5. Homemade Dynamite

in hard feelings the line "Cause I remember the rush when forever was us" was a throwback to The Lourve where the outro was so long it forces you to remember how long it is and how haunting it is. The Lourve also mentions "a rush at the beginning" referring back to Sober

React to SZA! If you have not dove into the masterpiece that is ‘CTRL,’ I would start there. If thy ears have already been blessed, you should check out her latest trio of singles, Good Days, Hit Different, and Hate U. (U won’t be sorry) btw love the channel! ☺️

Like so many others commenting, my all time favourite album! Really enjoyed your reaction, thank you! Not sure where you were drawing the lyric analysis / interpretation from, but I can’t help but feel that you were led astray by those comments which in my view failed to capture the essence of each track virtually every time! Better just to sit with the lyrics themselves I reckon. You’ll pick up the true meaning of each song and the album as a whole with repeat listens 😊 My top 3: 1 Hard Feelings / Loveless 2 Sober II 3 The Louvre

Melodrama really kicked started the work Jack Antoff did with both Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. I remember memes going around begging TS and LDR to stop taking Jack's time up so Lorde could release new music xD That said, Homemade Dynamite was co-wrriten by Tove Lo and is the only one not co-written by Jack (according to Wiki). Tove Lo is another great artist I think you should check out sometime! Favourite tracks are: Homemade Dynamite, Green Light, Writer in the dark and (when I need a sad song) Liability.

I reckon check out Pure Heroin, it's the album I revisit the least but very much enjoy it. I'm not sure I could say if I like Melodrama or Solar Power more - Melodrama definitely hit harder and for longer but I lose myself in Solar Power and every listen feels better. Mood Ring is my favourite Lorde song for sure.

ok ok time for me, an amateur poet with a propensity to misinterpret art so it relates to my emotions better, to explain my extremely strong feelings surrounding 'sober ii (melodrama)', because *gee golly* am i passionate about that song. so to me she's talking, the whole time, about romanticism as a concept. a lot of artists (speaking from experience here) tend to romanticize extremely negative and painful emotions in order to utilize them in their art; being an artist is inherently melodramatic, because u have to dramatize and exaggerate every emotion u feel in order to create something from it. all artists are people who, if i may create my own word really quickly, 'over-feel' things, which is basically the definition of melodrama. so i think what she's saying with this song is like, yes, _this_ is melodrama. this is what happens when u create art. u feel everything much more deeply and everything becomes much more painful. sure, i've created beautiful music because of my emotions, but here is this 'terror' and this 'horror': in order to romanticize everything i feel, i have to feel it much more deeply. we told u _this_ was melodrama. like, it's not fun, it's not painless to create what she does. this is melodrama. it's romanticism to an extreme and it's not really an enjoyable experience. it also serves as a thesis statement for the album, because she's discussing how much pain she went through to be able to write the songs that she did. she says, in this song, 'god, i wonder why we bother,' and i think that's so telling as to how she feels about this type of dramatization in general. anyway. this probably has nothing to do with the actual meaning of the song but it's _so_ personal to me as a poet and i've never gotten to talk about it before!! ironically i am currently wearing my melodrama vinyl earrings lmfao. (this reaction is great btw
