One of the many perfect things these movies did was choose the perfect songs to end each movie. And this was my favorite. When the screen goes black and there’s eerie silence for 5 seconds before Lordes dry voice sets in, and gradually progresses into this song: perfection. Especially considering the dark ending that movie had.

Emma Heertjes I respect your politeness but their style is completely different. Lana's music is incredibly watered down so that her voice and lyrics are the most prominent features in the album. Lorde's music is incredibly theatrical and synthetic. Plus the themes in their songs are vastly different. LDR sings about the past and true heartbreaks while Lorde sings of the present and the near future. They're both incredibly talented but vastly different.

People saying Lana would be a better choice for this song don't seem to realise Lorde wrote this song and made it from scratch, no way Lana would write something like this. I can imagine Lana doing a "good" cover of this song but the fact still remains, that this is Lorde's song and it's amazing (it's naive and stupid to say that someone should have done it instead to the CREATOR! I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold My blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones It keeps my veins hot, the fires find a home in me I move through town, I'm quiet like a fire And my necklace is of opal, I tie it and untie And our people talk to me, but nothing ever hits So people talk to me, and all the voices just burn holes I'm going in (ooh) This is the start of how it all ends They used to shout my name, now they whisper it I'm speeding up and this is the Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart We're at the start, the colors disappear I never watch the stars there's so much down here So I just try to keep up with them Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart I dream all year, but they're not the same kinds And the shivers move down my shoulder blades in double time And now people talk to me I'm slipping out of reach now People talk to me, and all their faces blur But I got my fingers laced together and I made a little prison And I'm locking up everyone who ever laid a finger on me I'm going in (ooh) This is the start of how it all ends They used to shout my name, now they whisper it I'm speeding up and this is the Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart We're at the start, the colors disappear I never watch the stars there's so much down here So I just try to keep up with them Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat Sparking up my heart And this is the red, orange, yellow flicker beat-beat-beat-beat

Still in love with this song and one of my favorites of Lorde's - the lyrics are pure poetry and it's masterful how she crafted a song with power enough to stand well on its own and build a message that transcends the context of the movie; of course in the context of the Hunger Games it is also amazing how well she portrays a symbolism that represents the Games and Katniss. The image of Katniss as the marble princess really resonates (with me at least) with the idea of Katniss as a propaganda icon (especially in the beginning of the story) - first for the Capitol and then the Resistance - with every scar and drop of blood glorified into political currency with no real consideration for her as a person.

If you love the song, you'll love the movie. The lyrics are basically Katniss' POV during Mockingjay Part 1.

@mavricksone10 жыл бұрын
Kind of funny to me how Lorde fans are always bringing Lana in the debate, like they are somewhat always trying to make Lorde sounds better than Lana. I love them both, do i love them equally? Well, i do prefer Lana, in fact i relate more to he music. Does it mean that i think less of Lorde as an artist? No. I think that Lorde is really talented. Do i think that there are annoying hardcore fans in each fandoms, HELL YEAH! But honestly saying that Lorde has more awards than Lana is just simply stupid. Do i need to reming you who else has Grammys? Justin Bieber. Instead of bitching one artist just to prove how another artist is "so much better" why don't you just say positive things about that said artist?
@ILPLEUTDESPUTES10 жыл бұрын
mavricksone Exactly! I love them both too, i do prefer Lorde a bit though, but why are some people even mentioning Lana? Like Lana has nothing do to with this song... I feel like it's a stupid war between Katy Perry and Lady Gaga hardcore fans, that's actually quite lame.
@stevie-rayegomes312210 жыл бұрын
mavricksone your awesome dude the only positive input on this vid I don't see why people bother trying to compare artists when they clearly all have there own creative styles lana and lorde are from different spectrums of the alt world I love them both but lana is def my favorite for the same reasons you said.
@a1b1o1o1o1d10 жыл бұрын
mavricksone You Lana fans always try to make fun of Lorde on tumblr and twitter . I'm not trying to make Lorde seem better than Lana , Lorde IS better than Lana . Lana just sing about money and fame and how pretty she's , totally unrelatable for normal people . that's why I think Lana fans (and even Lana herself) arguments are stupid, I'm just stating the obvious......... And BTW Justin didn't win any Grammy , only nomination
