It's so crazy watching Lorde's evolution. Pure Heroine was the exact opposite of this, so cynical and jaded. Melodrama acknowledged love was a powerful feeling and not stupid to write about, and was just enveloped in the sadness of her breakup. It is so different from MELODRAMA. So "sunny", so bright, so happy, so feel-good. MELODRAMA instead was "dark", her voice rough and scratchy, liked that. But after hearing Solar Power again and again, I start to really love some of the tracks, as "Solar Power", "Mood Ring" and "Oceanic Feeling". What I still really dislike, is that there is not CD available by intent. I am "old school" and an audiophile, I want perfect sound quality on CD and some jewel case to put into my shelf.

I've always believed this - Lorde never releases the best song(s) on her album first. She releases the song which feels like the most apt fabric stitched out that represents the theme, mood, sound of the album. She's gone from restless, angsty, glory seeking but capital refusing teenager to struggling, coping, immensely loving, growing Ella and now - we see her emerging from the sunlight, bringing the sun with her. When the whole industry has shifted from summer indie pop, put it behind and they're now trying to catch up with the 'edge' she had since 2013 - she brings it back. It's mellow. It's a grower. It doesn't fit into your head too easily, it TUGS at you. It feels like a bit of sun and yellow and growth and possibility, it's slow and I can see ALL the colors. She said that Melodrama was violets and blues for her. I see the brightest mango yellow, sand gold, sea blue, white rays here and I can't wait to see what new tracks she puts out for this new universe that fucking takes a dump on every current sales record and says, 'I'm going to do it my way now'. I can't wait to see all her colours.
