The kind of bowler who used to run in wanting to bowl fast every ball. A fellow Aussie player said about him "In State cricket batsmen were frightened of him. He once yorked someone and the ball hit the foot, blood was seeping through the batsman's sock" That's how scary fast this guy was! It's such a shame his career was affected by injuries due to his 'mixed' bowling action. Thank you Shaun Tait for the memories. You were a treat to watch in your pomp!

mixed bowling action? Didn't understand
@Farrakh-ch2ti
@Farrakh-ch2ti Жыл бұрын
I'm no expert on the biomechanics of bowling so I will try to explain the best I can. In bowling you have 2 types of action. The front on action, chest facing towards the batsman , or the side on slingy action , where the chest is facing more towards the umpire at delivery stride. When you are bowling front on your top and bottom half of the body should be aligned. So if your chest is facing the batsman and your toes towards the umpire it's going to cause a lot of stress on the body. The same applies to the side on slingy action. If the top half of your body isn't aligned with the bottom it's going to cause injuries. This is just my opinion, but I think although Shaun Tait had a slingy release his action was neither front or side on. He suffered from injuries in his career, mainly knee, because of this. Look at the longevity of some of the greatest fast bowlers James Anderson Glenn McGrath Courtney Walsh All smooth, fluid, front on bowlers.

Could have been managed better by CA me thinks. Rightly they had to try him in tests, but should have been quickly re-aligned as a precious commodity for ODI's and T20's and told to maintain his speed and swing for those formats. 95mph with a hint of swing is absolute gold dust, and CA squandered it. He wasnt like Shane Bond with the perennial bad luck of injury.

Good heat from Tait. The second and third outswingers on the vid were sensational to right hand bat at 96 and 97 mph. Then 2:03 there are two perfect balls to lefties at 95 and 97 mph. That ball to Strauss was a cracker. Beautiful bowling at that pace. The other highlight is 5:31. Greatest fieldsman i've ever seen still doing it at 35yo. Yardy can at least tell the grand kiddies how he faced guys like Tait. Collingwood digs out a 98mph yorker first ball and it goes for 3 !!! Great video. Cheers.

If you have never been to an international cricket match and watched a quality fast bowler clock 95+mph consistently in an over- you don’t know what you’re missing! That’s why they were silent. The crowd was taking in how special this is and were stunned at same time.

Saw him bowl at The 7evens in DXB when he played for the MCC in the Emirates T20. He was way past his prime but he still had that scary pace and that legendary delivery stride was something else to watch. Pure joy in cricket is when there’s a respectful battle between a lightning quick fast bowler and a formidable batsman. I don’t think I’ve seen Tait flustered or overreacting either. He did his job for his team when needed. Mostly celebrated his wickets without getting in the face of a batsman or saying nasty things. The wild thing in his prime was a sight to behold indeed!

Only pace doesn't work, other factors matter too, you can still be a no.1 bowler with 135 kmph speed...if you know, you know

Shaun 'the Wild Thing' Tate at his best could be lethal... unplayable. He could sometimes be a bit erratic though control wise.. Still - he was a joy to watch when he was 'on'. Imagine The Wild Thing with Glen McGrath's control.😲 Now thats a scary thought!

Legend has it that once upon a time there turned the quartet of Shaun Tait, Brett Lee , Mitchell Johnson and Dirk Nannes for Australia in a T20 match and it was officially the fastest bowling lineup in cricket history .

A mate of mine faced him in club cricket at his peak. He came back to play for Nairne with his brother while not on Australian duty. Mate was an Association representative level opener, so not amazing but certainly very serviceable. Shaun was trundling off 4 steps. My now late friend faced the entire over. He didn't see a single ball. Off 4 steps. Got 4 runs off a nick through the slips that he says he just didn't see. Average Joe has no idea how frighteningly quick genuine pace like this is. RIP Womble.

Crazy to see how young Tim Paine looked as keeper in this. Was fun seeing Ricky Ponting skill as a fielder in those short minutes of the video.

I have seen tait, shoaib, and brett lee, my personal view is tait was the quickest among these three, yes shoaib has clicked the fastest ball, but tait used to bowl regular 97-98 mph while lee and shoaib used to bowl 94-95 regular basis and occasiobaly goes upto 97-98
