We left Seattle and traveled across some of the most beautiful countryside in existence to our destination, Boise, Idaho. While there I talked with several locals, who claimed that Boise is a terrible, ugly city that is very cold, overrun with dangerous badgers and Big Foot was even mentioned. So I explored several areas of the city to see for myself. Includes drone footage of the skyline.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown Boise

There are a LOT of people who don't know why anyone would live in the Left-Wing toilets of Portland, Seattle, or Vancouver Canada these days, and everything those cities represent, not to mention their non-stop rain, grey skies and depressed people. Seattle always had a good culture and may still have hope. I am from Canada north of Idaho and travelled through this great state to see the Great Eclipse of 2017. The whole region from the crest of the Cascade Mountains to the Great Lakes on both sides of the border have a lot of good things in common, well shown in this video. Those who want to change it cuz their current hometowns have been made dysfunctional by others like them............ well, I like Boise's attitude and that animal you showed is a wolverine, the largest member of the weasel family and legendary for their wild fierceness, although a few animal experts have tamed them from birth, and if treated well, they can be peaceable but EXTREMELY rambunctious pets. By the way those birds at 29:00 are called "Canada Geese" on both sides of the border, and are found throughout the N.W. USA and S.W. Canada...........

Have been living in Idaho for over 45 yrs. Encountered a badger and a coon once but no more. Boise is clean, low crime rate, hardly has no homeless on the streets. Yes, Housing situation has become a big problem. My property tax is increasing every year and scary. My friend's old house was bought around 65K 20 years ago and now it can be sold at over quarter million. Young family can never purchase a house at that price. And it's a 65 year old little house. Rent? forget it! Californians are okay if only they don't bring their attitude and problem.

The neighborhood you drove through that you considered low income, was actually considered part of the North end. The houses are small but expensive. Used to live in one of the houses. Sold it in the mid' 80's for approximately $100,000. That same house probably sells for $750,000 now. So the housing prices plus the fact that the wages haven't kept up with the rising costs of both mortgage and renting are the reasons the natives aren't happy with others moving to Boise.

Former Idahoan with a personal connection to a couple of things you showcased. My grandfather built a lot of those little homes in that north side neighborhood in the 1940’s and 50’s. He was one of the main developers of the west side of Harrison Blvd, especially close to foothills drive. Not only has that neighborhood ALWAYS been clean and well kept, those homes were all built with solid (no shortcut) construction. It was such a well kept neighborhood that he raised his own kids there in a house he built himself. And my other grandfather was an artist that, as his primary profession, painted signs, commercials, and murals on the sides and interiors of buildings. His largest customer was the Idaho Creamery Association that paid him every year to paint new signs. He also painted the interiors of grocery stores with pictures of produce and the exterior of soda shops, ice cream parlors, and drug stores (including both the first Safeway and first Albertsons, both of which started in Idaho). Idaho had a long history of quality commercial painting from the turn of the century right up until the 60’s, many of which were good enough that the local kept them intact for years. It was widespread enough that my grandfather made a pretty decent living and some of his old painted buildings and commercials are still around to this day uncredited. I saw one of his at an ice cream shop in downtown Ashton Idaho just a couple years ago.

I graduated from Boise State in 2006, living in Boise for years until moving back to Portland, Oregon this past December. Boise has grown a lot during the last ten years. I was fortunate to have lived in the same house and pay my affordable mortgage for 14.5 years until selling my house last December, but many others are not so fortunate. People are struggling with the same economic woes that are happening all throughout the country. The natural beauty that surrounds Boise is nice, but again the people are experiencing economic hardship like everywhere else. I’m hoping that the state legislators will do something about wages, but too many of them don’t seem to pay enough attention to that.

I was a cop in California and my wife is still a nurse. She took a 50% cut to relocate and we have much more disposable income than we did in California. I've lived in Boise since 2001. I've never, ever heard of anyone being bitten by badgers my friend. Someone is pulling your leg. The two main things about moving here are: 1.) Housing is difficult to find and extremely expensive. Right now a 1 bedroom apt starts at $1200 a month. 2.) You should consider that this is a very conservative place. I've worked for Walmart for 20 years now, and when i notice people come through a cashier line with all new housewares, I ask them if they just moved here. 9 out of 10 customers tell me they moved here because wherever they came from had become too liberal and they felt Boise was "normal". If you move here as a liberal/Democrat, you need to know that people will assume you are a conservative and talk to you in such a way that I was taught was disrespectful and distasteful towards those who stand on the other side of the political aisle. There are a lot Democrats in Boise proper, and in Ada County, but very few elsewhere. I used to work in personnel and learned that despite it being illegal, many businesses here check the voter registration party of job candidates. So many of the democrats stick together, live under the radar, keeping their mouths shut while we have to listen to a lot of unsolicited rhetoric. For example, whenever I needed to find someone for a service, say a dentist, I would contact my chiropractor's wife who had a rolodex of names. Trumpism extremists live here and will tell you when the revolution comes they are going to go door to door through town and kill all the democrats who luckily won't have guns. I'm not kidding! I had a neighbor tell me this! So just a heads up...

The simple problem is that, no it isn't all Democrats ACTIVELY being crazy and causing chaos in this country. However, it is MOST Democrats who are allowing this chaos by not having the strength of character to call out the bad actors in their midst. So yes, if your a Democrat you are seen as part of the problem. I also have problems with things you said. First " talk to you in such a way that I was taught was disrespectful and distasteful towards those who stand on the other side of the political aisle. ". We have no reason to be respectful any longer. People on the left side of the aisle have been calling us r@cists, n@zis, claiming we are bloodthirsty, claiming we want to oppress our fellow Americans, etc. If you don't like how we speak about your side perhaps you should have thought about that 2 decades ago when your side stopped being respectful and started demonizing us unfairly. Perhaps stop treating us like we're subhuman just because we disagree with your side. Second: " unsolicited rhetoric" why is it unsolicited rhetoric when we voice our opinions, but your side says its stunning and brave to spew idiotic nonsense? Credit where credit is due, Idaho leftists did turn away the national rioters themselves during the 2020 Burn, Loot, Murder riots. Conservatives didn't have to do it for them. Finally, if you feel you can't voice your opinions and have to live under the radar, good. Now you know what its like to have been a conservative in a blue city for the past 2 decades. About time some of you got a taste of your own medicine. FYI: I'm only conservative because Democrats have tried moving the Overton (sp?) window. I'm certainly not a Republican and never have been. Would have been considered a moderate before 2000.

I just discovered your channel and was happy to see you've covered some of the areas I've known and lived in. Thanks for the enlightenment as there's always something new that I didn't know about these towns and cities! I was born in Seattle but did live in Joseph, OR for a year and almost hit an elk going over Dead Man's Pass! I didn't know there was a badger infestation in Boise? 😱 I wouldn't live there because it's too Liberal so I settled in Plain, WA for the past 8 years and yes, we have Bigfoot here too and wolverines as I chased on off our property a couple of years ago! I did a woodcarving show at the JUMP convention center in Boise which was really cool because of all the antique tractors! The alley murals were a whole lot nicer than the graffiti of Seattle. BTW, those are Canada Geese at the capitol building.😉Much of this road trip looks familiar so thanks for jogging my aging memory, LOL! 🤣

Another few things im glad you showed the penitentiary it’s probably one of the coolest buildings here and it’s near the foot hills if I remember correctly, also when it comes to the homeless there are a lot more not just in that one area, last thing Canadian geese, they are everywhere and some stay due to people feeding them. I understand the idea: “don’t come here, and ruin our city” But then people who say this will talk about “how sad it is that all the small towns are dying…” It’s good for cities to get new residents. Otherwise your place withers and rots away when the population ages out.

The funny thing about bitching about California moving in…. Local owner realizes housing prices going up, realizing the house he paid $xx,xxx for is selling for 5x, all hid buddies are bragging about all the money they made, everyone likes to make money. So a young local family wants to purchase at a reasonable price, some outsider offers more, driving the local out of the market, local want-a-be buyer is pissed, housing prices are skyrocketing, however the seller just screwed his neighbors and is bragging about all the money he made. So why don’t the sellers sell to the locals at a lower price to keep outsiders out? The answer - they are greedy and two faced like everyone else.

I moved from California to Idaho about 2 years ago. It was such a culture shock in the beginning and I loved it. No gangs. Population was low, people would wave hello from the streets, and drivers were courteous. It was perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for when I escaped Ca. About a year later, I noticed the streets were getting more congested. Drivers were getting rude. No one hardly waves hello from the streets anymore. Gang problems and increased crime in surrounding cities. Local schools are trying to let transgenders in the opposite sex' restrooms and locker rooms. I hate to think where my new home will be in a few years if nothing is done about it.

Natives or people born and raised in this state follow the rules... you pack it in, you pack it out. Meaning you don't litter. You treat others with respect and be polite to others. Here's a video from Boise, Idaho by a fortunate Texas couple. They sold their large home after their kids were reared and began their own independent lives. I badly misjudged them as I first discovered them exploring the Oklahoma panhandle's desolation and assumed they were videotaping a "So Bad, It's Good" tour of America. I was vastly wrong about their motives and don't fully understand how or why they reached a decision to video all 50 States of the United States of America. I'm happy that they did for very obvious reasons: Their work has given a much needed shakeup and reassessment to my outmoded, 1970s era views of 2022 America. In this video, Boise, Idaho is not the "worst city in America to live in." Far from it. The real factor is that residents of Boise dread the city's rapid growth and the fact that wealthy Californians and Americans from elsewhere are rapidly relocating to Boise and the surrounding area and changing it for the worst by their mere presence. Early in the video, the Idaho Wolverine is described as attacking residents. In truth, these are Badgers which have been dislocated by Urban Developers and defend themselves by attacking intruders like you and me. This is an unspoken and subtle argument for contraception and birth control which has just been overturned by the US Supreme Court. So Boise is far from "the worst city in America" to live in in 2022. On the other hand, Boise, Idaho's current trajectory along with over population and climate change makes Boise, Idaho's future status what legal scholars call a Moral Certainty. When the state pen closed in 1973 (believe it or not) they were going to tear down the Bishop’s House so a group of locals (led by my mother-in-law) raised funds to have it moved to it’s current location which was being turned into state park. People always complain when prices go up, and prices go up whenever a place becomes popular. Just make it junky and dysfunctional and no one will want to live there any more. Prices will go down. Is that what Idahoans want? There are always trade-offs.

We don’t hate people we hate that everyone and their mom has the same idea and the fact that you all can price out locals with cash ruins our way of Life extremely I’m a 4 generation local can’t live here when I move out

@@MikeGeorge392 I sympathize. I moved out of my native Oregon to Washington when I realized how much Oregon was going to take from my retirement accounts (10%). Then I realized I will probably move to another country when I retire because housing and medical care in the US are too expensive. I'm a native Oregonian and an American, but both state and country are too darn expensive. Getting priced out is a consequence of the success of capitalism. There's is no getting around it in a free society. I'll just move and wait for wherever I land to become too expensive, and then move somewhere cheaper again. Maybe I'll end my days in an African mud hut.

as a fellow Idahoan it looks like you've already lost that city. It takes more than 1 person like yourself (altho righteous) to prevent such an invasion. Perhaps if LDS weren't so effective welcoming people, it would've helped a bit, or at least slowed things down

Boise is going to keep growing and become more diverse like both Salt Lake City and Provo whether some of the locals like it or not. Trying to stop a growing city can lead to disaster.

Im a local and the homeless are not usually located there, they were protesting for better homeless facilities which is why they were right near the capital. A lot of the homeless in Boise usually tend to conjugate on the west side of downtown under the freeway on ramp.

If you went to the skate park you would see homeless too. I work near there and see them everywhere. We had a window broken out at my work to steal a candy machine. If you drive around you see graffiti too. Wages are low and housing is really high. Hard to afford to live here. Lots of bad drivers and rude people.

Yeah, the HOAs are stealing. It will get bad when Idahoians realize one day deer dont shoot back....not just Califorians do. But they are too stupid to understand the concept, they are going to harass the wrong ppl, do to thier discrimination, thats what they are biggots. Thats why wages are low, low lntelect.
