This ARC is so important for the clones latter actions during Order 66. I think if Jesse didn't have to endure Umbara, he would've actually considered listening to Rex, even with the chip active. While Rex was naturally also affected by the Inhibitor, he chose to fight the effects, thus helping Ahsoka do something about it and buying her time. Jesse didn't question anything, because he also believed in his heart that the jedi were capable of betrayal, and because he was so deathly afraid of a second Umbara.

there are hundreds of years of history in Star Wars where regular soldiers had no choice but to fight armies of force users. Specifically the old republic era was filled with Anti-Force Wielder weapons so we've seen lots of different examples of how normal people could overcome Jedi with the right tools. A jedi can block blaster bolts, but there's no hope for a Jedi against a flamethrower or scatter blaster, they would have no choice but to run away. As soon as someone gets close enough with one of those weapons, that Jedi is fucked. In the old wars, 3 republic troopers was more than enough to kill a Sith Warrior.

The campaign of Umbara is one of the most well-done narrtive arcs of all the series.

And we wonder why Rex didn’t fall for the “good soldiers follow orders” routine.

Its interesting how they couldn’t apprehend krell without massive casualties but they where able to destroy the jedi temple and the jedi order with relatively low casualties.

Surprise I suppose. They tried to arrest Krell, not kill him - giving him an opportunity to escape and deal damange. With the temple, they just went in and started shooting without warning.

Not to mention he seems to be a MUCH better fighter than most masters even. His physiology (size, strength and four arms) allowed for a unique fighter with a lot of carnage he could unleash. Not to mention his very powerful force mastery, with foreseeing order 66 and all. He's a very powerful opponent to say the least.

It bears mentioning that most of the skilled Jedi fighters were...well, out fighting the war. It was mostly padawans, Jedi with more of a bend towards teaching and study, and the Jedi sentinels that were at the Jedi Temple. The Jedi Mace Windu brought with him to confront Palpatine were probably the strongest Jedi they had at the temple at the time. Not to say that they weren't strong, despite Palpatine cutting them down.

Most of the Jedi in the temple were not fighters. The tough nuts they left for Anakin to crack

The jedis in the temple are taken by surprise. Anakin was also there to fight some of the better fighters

This show really pushed the limit on what a kids show can be. I’m an adult and the scene with Waxer still hits harder than most shows with shallow scenes aimed towards adults. This show was a God send especially with arcs like these.
