This is a great scene. I mean, Christopher was right regarding everything he said about their relationship, about the timing, and behavior. That's one of his good scenes definitely.

If someone tells you no for 20 years and you pounce on them while they’re in a the rebound phase it’s kinda your fault. He knew she was still hurt but he took advantage of that to get what he wanted without thinking of the ramifications down the line when she actually had time to think and get over the initial hurt. Doesn’t help matters that he didn’t actually improve as a person because if he did there wouldn’t have been any room for her to still consider Luke. They got married and Chris immediately started trying to make her do all the things he wanted to do a lot of the time without having a conversation aa out it

for the people who are supoorting Chris and hating Lorelai for what she did. Did you even oay attention to what Chris to Lorelai and how he walked out of the house and wasn't picking up Lorelai calls. Did you not see how he didn't show up to the hospital when the girls needed him. If you didn't see then watch the episode again. I'm was happy that Lorelai helped Luke with the custody. Luke dkd more for the girls then your precious Chris ever did.

So well said. Lorelai was right from the very beginning about Chris being too immature could you imagine how her parents would have been to her if she married him in the beginning , lived under their roof with a baby and Chris and her had not worked out. She would have been blamed for everything she would have had to stay in that mess as she had never worked everyone is so anti how Lorelai brought up Rory she did a far better job with Rory at 16 than her parents did with her and they were older. She is immature with guys because for 16 years she put Rory first she never brought guys home she did not go out and leave Rory alone ho and get drunk and brings whoever she picked up home. Give her some credit and St such a young age she deserves some good times now that Rory is older

It’s crazy how alike Lorelai and Christopher are (at least pertaining to their specific faults). Chris made the selfish decision of pushing Lorelai when she was not ready and told him she needed more time, and Lorelai did the exact same earlier in the series during her first breakup with Luke when he asked her for more time and to think and selfishly pushed him into a quick decision. The shared immaturity and selfishness is astounding. Like god damnit just don’t get into a relationship when you fully know you’re not ready!! Don’t rush into a rebound just because you don’t want to think about your other relationship that just failed!!! This is like teenage-early 20s behavior... Makes so much sense why Rory made such terrible relationship choices both here and in the revival... look who her gd role model is. I feel like Lorelai never took responsibility for her relationship mistakes in front of Rory. Like she’d do shitty things and truly was the reason behind most of her breakups, but would let Rory coddle her and throw her pity parades without doing the mature thing and being like: “no I need to take responsibility for the part I played in this and work to be better, don’t feel bad for me.” Would we feel bad for the cheater, or the liar, or the one who knew they weren’t ready but did it anyway, in a real life relationship? No. Can we really be shocked after that glowing example Rory went on to cheat on/with 4/4 of her boyfriends (jess, dean, logan, and revival guy if i’m correct?) and take like 0 accountability for it? In hindsight it makes sense. Great and thorough character writing imo.

Your analysis makes a lot of sense. Lorelai walked out of relationships, ended things on what often felt like a whim and then needed the handholding. Like suddenly breaking it off with Max then grabbing Rory and going off for that road trip, yelling at her when Rory questioned her and then waking up all sunny the next morning and deciding to tour Harvard. Even when she got engaged to Max, she impulsively decided to accept Max while at her parent’s house watching Rory be the centre of attention. I always felt it was jealousy and insecurity that led her to say yes to Max, sort of like oh look I can get attention as well. Lorelai grew up fast in terms of handling the responsibilities of child and job ( while Christopher didn’t) but when it came to relationships she was still a 16 year old .

It's funny that even though Chris admits that he pushed her into doing things, he's still blaming her and not himself, and he acts as the victim of it all. They wrote the character really well, as someone who has never worked on his insecurities, a grown up child. While Lorelai somehow grows as a character in the series (although, sadly, they forgot it in the sequel).

@@lauriecarson6483 Well not marry Christopher to start : ) but to marry and move him into the house Luke renovated/invested in and planned for their own future is crazy cruel. Luke did alot of things wrong but mostly cause the writers need to drag things out. But Luke never wavered in wanting to be with her, he hesitated on when it should be but renovating a house is a pretty big commitment time and finance wise. Again, I blame the writers, not the characters.

while Christopher is feeling a lot right now, I dont think its about holding on to Lorelei, its just about what it means if he cant have laurelie, if he cant hold on to her , no matter what, like in high school, when he was the golden boy and she was less popular. If he doesn't have the pull any more, is he really a golden boy any more? and even though he might not have always liked it like Logan, who is he suppose to be if he doesn't have the privilege any more? its not just Luke, Christopher had been struggling to be king of the prom of stars hollow since he moved in, and he thought it would be just as easy to win people over as it had been his whole life, but despite other details, its just not as cute any more when you are older, if you make the same mistakes. While Christopher does care for Lorelei like a dear friend, I am pretty sure what he is really reacting to is that he is loosing his golden boy status, and he is facing an identity crisis, he is not use to having to grovel to just have his foot in the door, so he left,

Lorelai said she is in the relationship with Christopher, but he's right, she's not. She should realize that. Maybe she would think she's a failure if they got divorced, she can't face the fact that she loves Luke. Actually Christopher makes a lot of sense in this scene. He seems to have grown up some and matured. Loralie is in denial.
@lauriecarson6483 Жыл бұрын
Lol Chris didn't grow up and matured. He manipulated Lorelai into marrying didn't want his daughter there. Got jealous when Lorelai was holding Doula Likes niece then decided out of the blue to make a baby. If that's mature and grown up then you described Chris wrong. Lorelai wanted it the marriage to work but was unhappy during the marriage.
@kathleenobrien6468 Жыл бұрын
It just seems like he's matured because he realizes the mistake he made when he pushed Lorelai into marrying him. He's right, he should have given her time to disengage from Luke. I'm not sure why Lorelai was saying she wanted to stay married to him, I guess she was thinking that she's a failure at relationships. 😢
