I wish they would have mentioned rory being on the campaign in the revival with a story about it or something.. maybe explain why the didn't jump start her career.

They did explain it. (The sequel was a rewrite of season 7.) This original series, s1-s6, is all alternative facts, written by a failed journalist. Luke and Lorelai are even more non-communicative, worse than the worst parts of s5-s6. Rory repeated her mom's youthful indiscretion, and the mother-daughter relationship was better but probably nothing like how it was portrayed here.

I understand Taylor's fastidiousness was a necessary part of the town personality's, but holy hell he was so effing annoying most of the time
