@@AtlasBenighted Hey man. Please do my suggestion, they aren't exactly your taste but good none the less. So to let you know what they are exactly, think of them as hyper and DeadMouse on drugs, with good ass Theme, and Lyrics. Well one only talks but one just is from the best Electro musicians combined. I'm not forcing you to listen to them, it's your own merit if you want to listen to them. But can't hog good music too. And 'K vs K' theme is from K series, 'K: Return Of King's' to be said.

About the language of the singer: it's not actually a real language, it's a "mock" Latin of sorts. They mixed Latin with the fictional language of the Fodlan in the game. I guess you could call it Fodlatin?

This is a composition trick I've been noticing more and more to avoid the trap of using just Latin or another language that fits. For example League of Legends theme for Volibear called "The Relentless Storm." uses a "mock" Norse language as the region he's from in game takes inspiration from Vikings.

@@swordsmancs nah, I would say Verdant Wind makes the ideal _second_ route anyway unless you are really into slice of life, since Part 1 gives off so much of that feel with it's Supports and the main events feel more disconnected than with Azure Moon or Crimson Flower/Silver Snow. I'd say the ideal way to do a perfect full playthrough is either Azure Moon or Crimson Flower first, then Verdant Wind, then Crimson Flower or Azure Moon, and then finally Silver Snow to wrap things into a neat bow. Add in Cindered Shadows DLC somewhere in the mix as well to round things to around 400 hours or so.

Glad you liked this track so much! Music from fire emblem is really good :) To explain, A lot of recent fire emblem games incorporate basically two versions of the same song that play. 1, the 'on the battlefield overall' , and 2, when you 'zoom in' on specific battles. In the 'battlefield overall' version, you can usually hear a more 'normal' version of the song, and when you 'zoom in' on specific battles - one soldier against another, or two generals facing off in combat, etc, the music will swell and grow more epic. This video that you reacted two sort of meshed the two different versions together. More specifically, the vocals you hear only play in the 'overall battlefield' version of the song, whereas the parts without vocals play in the 'zoomed in' view. It might seem like it should be the other way around, but it works. If you ever want more fire emblem music to have a look at, I'd reccommend Fire Emblem Echoes's 'Twilight of the Gods' genuinely one of my favourite pieces of fire emblem music. Its an orchestral remake of an older 8 bit song.

Heya, just found your video in my recommended, I just wanted to mention something about those orchestral hits, this being Fire Emblem, since Awakening in 2012, most songs in the latest entries have a separate version of themselves usually contrasting a "calm" version, called "Ablaze" "Fire" "Wind" "Storm" etc... In three houses map themes play in their "Rain" version while you're doing all the Strategizing and planning of your units, while "Thunder" plays when you made your choices and your units start fighting, the tracks switch right where it's other self left off so it feels extremely natural. Again in three houses the thunder themes are jam PACKED with those hits, every note is a staccato and everything feels extremely percussive as if you could hear the clashing of steel, so what you listened to was God Shattering Star rearranged switching at prime moments, it's an amazing edit that allows you to hear see both sides of the same coin. Just thought I'd let you know, it's something interesting to take into account. Edit: I see a lot of people not liking this version of GST, kinda surprised, it's basically become how I envision the song, you NEED those vocals but you equally need some majestic powerful notes from the thunder version, I mean, at the end of the day that's also how players will discover the song in-game, only switching rain and thunder at different timings.

Lyrics that i found from the original video. Arise, you who cannot bear death Raise your heads bravely and take up your weapons. No more wishing for the corpses of your comrades. It’s time to rebel and liberate. Warriors, gather to this banner. Run! Raise the flag! From the beast called God. To take back our pride from the beast called God. Warriors, shout to the earth! Follow me through the wilderness! In the name of rebellion. Let your bodies tremble Let your souls do as they wish Like the wind that blows through Mother Earth(Fódlan) Like the sunrise that colors the great Ogma Stamp it out, raise your voice, strong as a lion. Our cries will ride the wind for a thousand miles. Let it reach the starry shores of the sea. Reach high and praise me, for I am the one who will liberate you all. Pierce the sky, mysterious artifacts I am the embodiment of wrath I am the god shattering star

To answer your question of lyrics; there are no official lyrics to the piece! People have tried to examine the lyrics and figure out what language it is, most speculation I've seen says it's a combination of languages (Latin and a few others, from what I've seen). Very unfortunate because I would have absolutely learned the lyrics by now. If they were posted somewhere.

I think the idea was to mimic a latin church service. Most don’t know the language but can understand through the intonation behind it. Using gibberish allows the power of the music to shine while not being overshadowed, or distracted by what the words actually mean. I think this makes it more powerful.

You should listen to “The Edge of Dawn”. Leitmotifs from that track are in nearly every piece from the Three Houses soundtrack, and it makes the emotional payoffs in the late game amaaazing. He really built up the themes over the course of a game that can easily take 70+ hours per playthrough, and then hits you with some truly amazing and emotional tracks at the end of each route. You should also check out “A Funeral of Flowers” sometime. The tone of the song is super tragic and it hit me like a punch to the gut on the Church route. Underrated track from Three Houses.

When it comes to God Shattering Star it feels Epic. And I mean that in the more archaic sense. It feels like an accompanying song to the telling of some old epic fable. Like an unfolding story that still sounds like the same story but going on, it ages and shifts over the runtime like the phases of a great story. From a foreboding beginning to a more frantic and desperate tone with great highs and tragic falls.

You issue orders (lyrics) then the battle play out (instrumental). Such performance really summarize what type of game it belongs to. You can feel the clash on the battlefield throught instruments responding to eachothers, the ideals being shout out even if mere soliders don't know anymore the details of what they are fighting for (gibberish lyrics), partaking in something way too big for them.

Technically it has lyrics, but the only official translation is from some art book for the game or something. Lyrics (from the FE wiki BTW): Arise, you who cannot bear death Raise your heads bravely and take up your weapons No more staring at the corpses of your comrades Warriors, gather to this banner Run! Raise the flag! To take back our pride from the beast called God Warriors, shout to the earth! Follow me through the wilderness! In the name of rebellion. Let your bodies tremble. Let your souls do as they wish. Like the wind that blows through Mother Earth (Fodlan) Like the sunrise that colors the great Ogma Stamp it out, raise your voice, strong as a lion Our cries will ride the wind for a thousand miles Let it reach the starry shores of the sea Reach high and praise me, for I am the one who will liberate you all Pierce the sky, mysterious artifacts I am the embodiment of wrath I am the God Shattering Star.

This was a great track. That chanting was crazy and like you said those strings start going off at the end. Once more another great breakdown. Theme of Grandia by composer Noriyuki Iwadare is, as the name suggests, the opening track for the PS1 video game Grandia. As the story goes Iwadare was shown drawings of the main characters and given a short description of the game's synopsis when he was brought onto the project. He was so inspired by the game's vision that he wrote the entire theme that night only making some minor changes in the following days until it was recorded. I don't want to spam your comment section since I imagine you have a list and such so I'll just comment this recommendation once in a while. Im enjoying your videos either way.

If you liked this, I can recommend more music from Fre Emblem Three Houses: The Edge of Down. Blue Sky and A Battle. Between Heaven and Earth. You already been informed about the Rain and Thunder versions of the musics. Both are in the game but used in different instances. "The Edge of Down" is the "main theme" of the game and doesn't have Rain/Thunder versions. Can't get wrong with it. "Blue Sky and A Battle" and "Between Heaven and Earth" does have Rain/Thunder versions. Rain is the original one so pick that. About these two specific pieces, they go and in hand and there is a clear similarity between the two. What makes them special is the context of those pieces and why they sound like they are the same. I could tell you the context, but I wander what kind of impression it will give someone who doesn't know the context. Listen to "Blue Sky and A Battle" first and "Between Heaven and Earth" after for the right experiance.

I will NEVER forget the first time I played the end of game boss fight this track is tied to ... I legit put the controller down and went "what.. the F is going on?!" and legit didn't pick it up until I could collect myself again ... because ya know, it was an end of game fight so a minimum of focus was required ... and all of mine was into the track.

Wonderful video and very interesting analysis! One thing you might find interesting, but would have missed because you haven’t played the game: At the beginnings of some of the passages, the composer incorporated leitmotifs from different parts of the game! This evokes a more vivid story in the mind of a listener who has played it.

basically what the comments have said, yeah. The song’s written in its own fictional language which is meant to sound vaguely like Latin to give off a more epic feel to it. Though the song doesn’t have any actual lyrics, there have been some interesting fan attempts to give the song lyrics which I like

I have a suggestion for you that I wouldn't be surprised if nobody else in the comments here even knows about, but trust me, you will not regret giving it a listen. It's "The Merciless Savior" from Trails in the Sky SC (AKA Sora no Kiseki SC). If you enjoyed this and Dancing Mad, I have no doubts you will enjoy that as well. It's an incredible song from a fairly obscure JRPG that absolutely deserves more attention than it gets. And if you listen to that and want more like it from this series, I can recommend "A Mighty Power" from Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki), and "E.O.V" from Trails of Cold Steel II. Again, you will not be disappointed.

The final map OST’s from Fire Emblem games over the past decade are all phenomenal, and God Shattering Star happens to be the latest in that group. If you care to listen to others on your own time, definitely check out Id-Purpose, End of All, Lost in the Waves, Twilight of the Gods, and Apex of the World. I’ll also give a special mention to the soundtrack of Fire Emblem Birthright, as it incorporates traditional Japanese instruments into its themes, a rarity for the series.
