Glad you liked this track so much! Music from fire emblem is really good :) To explain, A lot of recent fire emblem games incorporate basically two versions of the same song that play. 1, the 'on the battlefield overall' , and 2, when you 'zoom in' on specific battles. In the 'battlefield overall' version, you can usually hear a more 'normal' version of the song, and when you 'zoom in' on specific battles - one soldier against another, or two generals facing off in combat, etc, the music will swell and grow more epic. This video that you reacted two sort of meshed the two different versions together. More specifically, the vocals you hear only play in the 'overall battlefield' version of the song, whereas the parts without vocals play in the 'zoomed in' view. It might seem like it should be the other way around, but it works. If you ever want more fire emblem music to have a look at, I'd reccommend Fire Emblem Echoes's 'Twilight of the Gods' genuinely one of my favourite pieces of fire emblem music. Its an orchestral remake of an older 8 bit song.

Heya, just found your video in my recommended, I just wanted to mention something about those orchestral hits, this being Fire Emblem, since Awakening in 2012, most songs in the latest entries have a separate version of themselves usually contrasting a "calm" version, called "Ablaze" "Fire" "Wind" "Storm" etc... In three houses map themes play in their "Rain" version while you're doing all the Strategizing and planning of your units, while "Thunder" plays when you made your choices and your units start fighting, the tracks switch right where it's other self left off so it feels extremely natural. Again in three houses the thunder themes are jam PACKED with those hits, every note is a staccato and everything feels extremely percussive as if you could hear the clashing of steel, so what you listened to was God Shattering Star rearranged switching at prime moments, it's an amazing edit that allows you to hear see both sides of the same coin. Just thought I'd let you know, it's something interesting to take into account. Edit: I see a lot of people not liking this version of GST, kinda surprised, it's basically become how I envision the song, you NEED those vocals but you equally need some majestic powerful notes from the thunder version, I mean, at the end of the day that's also how players will discover the song in-game, only switching rain and thunder at different timings.

To answer your question of lyrics; there are no official lyrics to the piece! People have tried to examine the lyrics and figure out what language it is, most speculation I've seen says it's a combination of languages (Latin and a few others, from what I've seen). Very unfortunate because I would have absolutely learned the lyrics by now. If they were posted somewhere.

I think the idea was to mimic a latin church service. Most don’t know the language but can understand through the intonation behind it. Using gibberish allows the power of the music to shine while not being overshadowed, or distracted by what the words actually mean. I think this makes it more powerful.

He really built up the themes over the course of a game that can easily take 70+ hours per playthrough, and then hits you with some truly amazing and emotional tracks at the end of each route. You should also check out “A Funeral of Flowers” sometime. The tone of the song is super tragic and it hit me like a punch to the gut on the Church route. Underrated track from Three Houses.

Theme of Grandia by composer Noriyuki Iwadare is, as the name suggests, the opening track for the PS1 video game Grandia. As the story goes Iwadare was shown drawings of the main characters and given a short description of the game's synopsis when he was brought onto the project. He was so inspired by the game's vision that he wrote the entire theme that night only making some minor changes in the following days until it was recorded. If you liked this, I can recommend more music from Fre Emblem Three Houses: The Edge of Down. Blue Sky and A Battle. Between Heaven and Earth. You already been informed about the Rain and Thunder versions of the musics. Both are in the game but used in different instances. "The Edge of Down" is the "main theme" of the game and doesn't have Rain/Thunder versions. Can't get wrong with it. "Blue Sky and A Battle" and "Between Heaven and Earth" does have Rain/Thunder versions. Rain is the original one so pick that. About these two specific pieces, they go and in hand and there is a clear similarity between the two. What makes them special is the context of those pieces and why they sound like they are the same. I could tell you the context, but I wander what kind of impression it will give someone who doesn't know the context. Listen to "Blue Sky and A Battle" first and "Between Heaven and Earth" after for the right experiance.

Wonderful video and very interesting analysis! One thing you might find interesting, but would have missed because you haven’t played the game: At the beginnings of some of the passages, the composer incorporated leitmotifs from different parts of the game! This evokes a more vivid story in the mind of a listener who has played it.

If you haven't found out yet, these are fake lyrics, they don't mean anything in any other language. They pulled a Nier:Automata on us.

Does he know that there are two versions of the Song? One (Rain) and the other (Thunder) Though this one is an Combination of the two, having the Vocals with the pure Orcestra being a bit streched in terms of playtime

basically what the comments have said, yeah. The song’s written in its own fictional language which is meant to sound vaguely like Latin to give off a more epic feel to it. Though the song doesn’t have any actual lyrics, there have been some interesting fan attempts to give the song lyrics which I like

This is one of the Best Soundtracks in all the Games out there. I played a lot of Games so i can tell that. The quality is the same as the boss track from the Abyss Watchers from Dark Souls 3.

Important to note that these soundtracks have dual mixes, meant to be played during as field and battle themes.

I have a suggestion for you that I wouldn't be surprised if nobody else in the comments here even knows about, but trust me, you will not regret giving it a listen. It's "The Merciless Savior" from Trails in the Sky SC (AKA Sora no Kiseki SC). If you enjoyed this and Dancing Mad, I have no doubts you will enjoy that as well. It's an incredible song from a fairly obscure JRPG that absolutely deserves more attention than it gets. And if you listen to that and want more like it from this series, I can recommend "A Mighty Power" from Trails of Cold Steel (Sen no Kiseki), and "E.O.V" from Trails of Cold Steel II. Again, you will not be disappointed.

I recently stumbled across your channel, loving the vids man! Any chance you got any reactions to some of Halo's soundtracks planned? If so i'd recommend Halo 3's 'Never Forget'. Not necessarily as lengthy as other tracks, but definitely worth a listen! You got a sub from me!

@@AtlasBenighted i'll eagerly await the future then hahaha. In the meantime ill enjoy catching up on your content. i rarely see people seriously reacting to- and picking apart video game soundtracks, beside the obvious fanboy-bias i have for franchises like dark souls and Halo, i believe there are some truly astounding pieces of musical work hidden in videogames that are easy to gloss over. Once again, im loving your content. Looking forward to your future content and being there for the development of your channel!

One of my favorite tracks in the franchise, I love the way it just keeps building and building, like every time you think it’s reach the climax it just gets even more insane! A perfect way to end the game (well in 1/4 runs anyways)

Just throwing it out there, "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Worlds Converge: Sidon and Yunobo" is one of my favorite pieces of music this year. If you've not heard it, I'd recommend it-it has a wonderful use a leitmotif and counterpoint, as well as emotion and, well, yeah. It's good.

The final map OST’s from Fire Emblem games over the past decade are all phenomenal, and God Shattering Star happens to be the latest in that group. If you care to listen to others on your own time, definitely check out Id-Purpose, End of All, Lost in the Waves, Twilight of the Gods, and Apex of the World. I’ll also give a special mention to the soundtrack of Fire Emblem Birthright, as it incorporates traditional Japanese instruments into its themes, a rarity for the series.

I've noticed that you only react to game music, but these two are really amazing, and they are the same kind of song than the others that you've heard. I hope you see this comment. 😀

I love your reactions. If I may I would like to recommend some soundtracks from Assassin's Creed 3. One is called Connor's story and the other is the main theme. Lorne Balfe did a fantastic job (obviously) and managed to make me love these soundtracks more than the other chapters.
